With the way things are going is it a necessity for DM to recruit a striker

I'd say we are lacking a little squad depth and we have a very young squad (even allowing for Copps to bring the mean average up a touch).  Form dips and injuries need to be considered so I'd say we need one or two more in.

Think we do need a couple more in as Rob says.

Of course we do - the manager said we do and that’s good enough for me.

Ennis and Sterling both ok, but we suffer with the hold up play at times. Said yesterday - imagine if Herbie, Marquis and Wilks were in that team - would it have made a difference?

We"ce shown we can compete without a no 9 but, it's asking a lot to get through even half a season without a recognised no 9 so we all want to see that position filled.

Other areas of the pitch maybe less obvious. Centre half we need another ideally although Sheaf can cover there.

Sheaf was missing yesterday, Crawford didn't get on the pitch again and Blair only got a few minutes. Taylor hasn't started a game yet. This is without any of our youngsters getting a sniff.

So where else on the pitch do we need another?

We need another centre midfielder if Gomes is next in line when there's an injury

Not sure about players from last year, they have gone and it's time to move on. But I agree we need a CF that can hold the ball up and can bring players in around him with his first touch and you know is going to be attacking that 6 yard box on anything that goes in there.

Considering the time frame in which DM has had to recruit and work, our start is something of a minor miracle.
We had an under-strength side out again but this lot seem to relish a battle and we are a lot more organised defensively. Further recruitment is required but the early signs suggest we won't struggle at all this season.

How did Gomes play yesterday.?  I didn’t go but the player rating the DFP gave him was quite good.?

Gomes was a revelation stepping in for Sheaf playing alongside Whiteman in front of the back four.
Can't have played there much in the past, if at all.
But did really well and deserved his high mark from the DFP.

Bit of a conundrum is Gomez, ...at times he was too deep almost a defender then he would get forward and ping a few decent passes,
He got more ball than Whiteman but in the wrong areas ...

I think he needs a bit more physical presence because he does seem to have the skill....but can get knocked over ...
Maybe game time will help him, but as a starter .......jury’s out !

Rob did you see the back of yesterday's programme, we had 31 players listed against their 20. Take out the 8 youngsters and we still have enough for two starting 11's.

That’s probably because you’re counting the u23’s?

It was always the intention (admittedly pre DM) that we would have a stand-alone u23 side this season.

Gibbons, Boocock,Horton, Greaves, McClean, Watters, Prior & Blayney are the eight you could take out. All the others I would consider first team squad level.

Lirak wasn't named on the back of the programme and as I said previously I would consider Jones as part of the first team squad.

I don’t think the manager sees it that way, otherwise why bring in Dieng?

Hasani is now contracted to us, so he should be included, even though he still qualifies, and is playing for, the u18’s.

The u23’s could be

                  Jones
McClean Horton Blaney Amos
         Greaves.     Prior
   Watters.    Longbottom   Gibbons
                   Boocock
Add to them
Kiwomya and, from the U18’s, Walker and Hasani

McClean, Prior and Gibbons are now out on loan to Frickley and Bradford PA.

I don’t see Kiwomya getting a game for the first team and he’s another one that could move out, when we bring in the new No9.

Don't the home teams always have more players on the programme with u23s etc included whereas the away team it's more their actual 1st team? in all the time i can remember we've had a larger squad if you go off the programme

Having not seen the programme, I don’t know who’s names are on it, so it’s difficult to work out. It doesn’t really matter, as the manager thinks we’re light in certain areas and that’s fine by me.

We need another CH, in case of injury. Baptiste will probably never be back, other than that we could run with what we have got and do extremely well this season. The loans have covered the gaps and we can wait for a striker. If the current favourite is being awkward then we don't want him, We want people in who are committed to the cause this season.

The latest from DM is that the (striker) guy wants to join us - it’s now about getting it over the line - so it’ll be a combination of Clubs agreeing and package offered I would think. We do want him and a cb.

Awkward? Maybe just trying to get a good deal.

Forget the programme, Lincoln have one of the smallest squads in the division. Only 21/22 you could class as the first team. It's one of the reasons I don't think they'll sustain a push for the top six.
