What could be the most interesting signings today
« on August 30, 2019, 12:04:44 pm by selby »
Are the ones that Bolton Wanderers may make, and what a difference they could make to any side they field tomorrow, and in any midweek games, if they are willing to play mid week games now that is.
On their forum it looks as if they are hoping for four or five new arrivals.

Couldn't give a flying f@*k what Bolton do or don't do as long as we get the points and goals we are entitled to because of their disregard for us and the EFL.

If they award us points and lets say a 3-0 scoreline, it would be unfair on the rest of the league. It was only because it was our fixture at that time. Best thing to do would be to strip the points from all teams who have played them and add them to their deduction along with the goals they have conceded.

That is unfair on the teams that have already played them though.
They have risked injury and red and yellow cards in those games.
They were just fortunate to play Bolton at a low ebb. They were always going to have a stronger squad as the season went on. It was the manner in which they treated the EFL. Our club and our supporters that rankles.
That showed no class whatsoever from an old established and long respected club.

There is very little chance Rovers will get awarded what the fans think is only fair. The EFL will just make us play a stronger team and that's the way it is. Bolton have screwed us just because we didn't have a Saturday fixture. It's made even worse because we are in between Bolton and Bury which feels like we have had a major stall in our season.

Whilst the points and 5 goals are the only reasonable fair result from this, I'd at worst accept the compromise of a replay where the players would be from the ones who were fit and available for the scheduled match. Bolton could even give them extra time off pre-match to rest their fragile heads and bodies.

A replayed game would be a very feisty affair all round - I'd try and get there. And more so if we're battling for top spots and Bolton have a glimmer of survival.

But that's the nature of a fixture list.

By that measure, it's not fair for a team to play a match if their opponents have two players suspended and five injured. That's the rub of the green.

The fixture list said that we should have played Bolton in mid-August when they had the squad they had. Bolton unilaterally chose not to honour that fixture.

They’re already offering to some apparently. Miller, Conway, Hobbs and Buckley. Plus others. They’re basically signing a whole new team and we will be the main team to suffer for it. The EFL are a joke, an utterly disgraceful joke!

TBH, I think they will struggle to survive in League One anyway - currently 12 points and a lot of goals adrift of the majority and they still haven't assembled a side yet.  I could see the EFL deciding that they didn't conform to the basic rules (by unilaterally cancelling without informing the EFL and us) and giving them a further points deduction....

Either way, it's going to be a task to stay in this division - unless they throw a lot of cash at it ....................... oh wait

Hobbs has been signed since pre-season. The EFL would not allow us to register players whilst in admin, which, TBH, was probably the cause of all the messing.

The EFL will make us play it again much later in the season but they will probably deduct points off them for doing it..We can protest all we want but as we've seen a few times theres one rule for one and one for another when it comes to the EFL decisions mainly depending on how big a club you are..

That said they will have everything crossed it wont make a difference because if Boltons team/fixtures end up effecting the top 6 in any way shape or form people wont forget it...

Just imagine if we finish behind Ipswich but within 3 points or g/d...And it costs us a chance at promotion..The will be hell on..

What do you mean there is one rule for one and one for another.?

Is that your opinion or if not, can you give examples.?

Well Bury and Bolton for a start..it's a big stretch to convince me that they have treated both clubs equally since the season started and the amount of effort they put in towards Bolton compaired to Bury.Bury couldn't play there fixtures unless they proved they could fulfil them financially.Bolton seemingly could play some but as there own administrators acknowledged they didn't have the funds to continue within a few weeks of the season starting..Which is why they cancelled our game, they needed to buy time and couldn't afford to play two small gate home games in a week...

Last season Bolton couldn't fulfil there fixture with Brentford and the game was forfeited and 3 points went to Brentford..That wont be the case with us  I bet...

I suspect most people on here believe that depending on who you are depends on how you are treated and have done long before these situations happened but I stand to be corrected...

I agree with you Wg Cdr; however, the Brentford game was slightly different - the timescales were less, Brentford had already travelled and it was the players that were refusing to play rather than the club/administrators etc

However, I am hoping that the EFL, having set a precedence on that occasion, will do the same this time.

At least if the EFL give Rovers 3 points it is some sort of compromise and the issue resolved. We may have lost out on the goal difference but then at least we won't have to play another game later. If the game does go ahead maybe we should welcome Bolton in the fashion they deserve.

I've said that on another thread. This has become personal. I dislike Bolton now, as much as I dislike the EFL.

Give Bolton a further 12 point deduction for bringing the game into disrepute. Give Rovers 3 points and a five goal score to add to our tally, as that score line is what was happening more often than not at the time when we should have played. If the EFL try to make us play it then take them to court, a judge would see the fairness of what we wanted.

A judge would probably ask, “Doncaster rovers, are they a soccer team? Not interested in that oiks game! Rugger, now there’s a proper game what...!”.

Would definitely take a 3pts 0-1 result. The rest of not having to play the game may come into it at the business end of the season. Any 3 point award is a right result for us
