5 Things We Learned from Blackpool game
« on September 18, 2019, 06:41:39 pm by RoversAlias »
Hi folks,

For the first time this season I'm writing about a defeat! A tough one to take last night with that injury time goal but I've looked back at the game and pulled out five aspects to discuss from a Rovers perspective. These include the tactical match-up between both sides, our struggle to have success up front and I picked out the individual displays of both Jon Taylor and Ian Lawlor for different reasons. Please give it a read at the link below:

Let's hope we can put it right on Saturday against Peterborough! I'll have a preview for that game up tomorrow and hopefully a feature article on Friday to top the week off as well. Thanks as always for reading and supporting the site.

1 we couldn't get a pass right, 2 we did not close them down enough, 3 we did not get into the box in dangerous positions enough, 4 we don't have a big enough striker to hold up the ball, and 5 DM needs to be able to make a change sooner if needed like last night as it changed the game when Copps came on

Something I learnt from the game is that most, if not all, the players are colour blind and keep mixing up their blues and reds!

And if you like, 6 it might be a good thing we lost, as it brings us down to earth and makes us realise wins don't come easy and without hard work

Vicar, when you say “ makes US realise that wins don’t come easy”, I assume that US means the fans because one thing for sure it that the players won’t be thinking that.

I very much doubt that.

If you saw the game and you take of your blinkers you would see that and it does when you go undefeated

I think that the biggest thing we learned is that we can't expect Niall Ennis to act as an isolated lone striker. He was battling for the ball but nobody was near enough to make the most of a loose ball in a dangerous area, three up front, playing a high pressing game is what we need, the goals will come back against Peterborough on Saturday then.
