Birthday cake

Is it just me that cringes when they see people blowing candles out ?
Blowing all over the top of the cake that is then chopped up for everyone to eat ?

Always a cake and candles at any of wife's family birthdays, always referred to as spitty cake

I remember my grandsons 6th birthday party. There were 6 candles on the cake and 2 snotty ones dangling from his nose as he inhaled deeply to blow them out. After one great blow of wind and spit the flames were out, and the 2 from his nose were missing.
