We need to imo need 5 or 6 new faces maybe 1 or 2 loans but rest permanent. The board need to back us for once.

Do you really think it’s a case that the board doesn’t back the manager.?

Or that the manager is being choosy.?

For once? Your having a laugh are you not? How about every year since they moved in to the tune of millions.

Wonder what GB makes of this forum. Bet he has a sneaky look every now & then.

Must have a sense of humour if he does. You really couldn’t make up some of the stuff on here if you tried.

Just me that thinks loans will do? Just because it's January. Better off starrting in the summer we're not going up or down this year.

A combination of both hopefully Padge..

If we follow the model from be first part of the season we could take on one or two more loanees - players like the lad from Norwich, who aren’t for sale or who would be too expensive..

But if we can take one or two permanent players with deals similar to the Cheltenham deal May got, that would be ideal.

Then more in the summer.

I don't really care how DM chooses to go about the transfer window as I expect he will do his damndest to give us the best chance of getting into the play offs or better.

As long as every player who wears the shirt gives 100% whilst they are here then that's all we can ask.

I don't think Dieng, John, Ennis or Sheaf will feel they are being treated any differently by the fans when the whistle blows. I certainly cheer them on just the same!

Correct DBR while they wear that Red & White hooped shirt they are one of us just the same as the others who have Rovers contracts.
They have all given 100% to the cause.

There is no issue whatsoever with signing loan players, non at all.
But our squad needs strengthening and we can only add one player to the squad if we only sign loans.
So by default we can’t only sign loan players in jan as this would mean we’re only signing one player which is obviously nowhere near enough

Yes, of course we are limited to the number of loans so, we will always require a core of contracted players however, as said before, if DM sees fit to utilise the loan system to the max by acquiring players of better quality and for less than it would by permanent signings, then that should be fine by everyone. Yes, we hope to see some evidence of maybe both in the not too distant future. DM knows he will have to manage contracts short term and long term. If he thinks he can manage recruitment in the summer using the same principles who are we to judge other than what we see on the pitch.

What makes my blood boil is comments like one I saw on a tweet from Liam Hoden when he was updating about Idah, someone said "We don't want another loan. We want the board to back the manager with permanent signings".

It's an obsession with some. If we're not buying players for published fees then the board can't be backing the manager inferring the board are not spending enough of their wealth. I just wish people would engage brain before posting these things.

I agree, there’s nothing wrong at all with signing loan players. But when you look at our bench you realise that we need more than one addition to this squad. And the only way this can happen is by signing a few players on permanent deals.
If we’d only one player on Loan currently then I’d be saying get 3 or 4 in, we need them but we can’t get that number in on loans and the fact is we need 3 or 4 players so some are going to have to be permanent deals

What would be the point in having 7/8 loan players when only 5 can be used?
