Leeds supporters.

Allegedly Leeds fans were given a rousing reception in North London & fittingly so given their well known reputation for their bonhomie towards opposing fans.

Lest we forget, this is a club that was ‘robbed’ of the European Cup in 1973 by a referee that was ‘allegedly’ given to award more leeway to Inter Milan than they were deemed to deserve thus the Italians winning the title Champions of Europe.

Of course, this has never stopped the ‘Leeds Faithful’ chanting their defiance of that ‘blatant piece of injustice’ by continuing to chant ever since ‘Champions of Europe’ to fields as far away from that heady night in Europe at places like Southend, Wigan, Miillwall & last but not least..Donny.

So to all you Donny ‘Lilly Whites’ from my days in the 70,s when I trudged down to Belle Vue every home game to watch my local team whilst you chose to ‘bathe in the glory’ of watching Leeds on tv, I truly, truly hope that yet again, just as in 1973, you fall at the the ‘final hurdle’ & fail to gain promotion from the Championship where, in failing to reach the higher echelons of English Football your nemesis awaits you.......Doncaster Rovers!

Doesn’t the WACCOE thing stem from their perception of injustices in the 1975 final defeat to Bayern Munich.?

They even have a WACCOE forum..

73 Cup winners cup final
75 European cup final

Why do you let it get to you. Just concentrate on your team. Be proud to support Rovers.
I started supporting a 4th division team when i first came to Doncaster in 1975.
Leeds were one of the best teams in Europe and had just played in the European Cup Final. So no one will ever call me a glory hunter. Some people thought i had lost my marbles. Maybe i did.

What i found even more cringy were the commentators gushing over the Leeds fans every two minutes, 8000 Leeds fans like its unheard of, it's an FA Cup game,
Didnt we take 5000 to the Emirates.

European Cup Winers Cup final 1973 AC Milan v Leeds Utd

The Greek crowd at the final reacted to perceived bias towards Milan by referee Christos Michas by throwing missiles during the victors' lap of honour, but despite protests, the result was not overturned. UEFA later banned Michas for life due to match fixing, although his role in this match was not investigated.

Michas worked several high-profile matches, including four consecutive Greek Football Cup finals, before being selected for European competitions. His performance at the 1973 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was widely criticized, leading to an investigation. UEFA banned Michas from refereeing for life following the investigation.

Apparently an interview with the Leeds mascot was shown live on the big screen before the game.

They asked him what had been the highlight of his day - his reply was "Going for a tour of the new Spurs stadium"

I saw some of the game last night.  I suspect Leeds fans will be going on about referee bias against them all over again.  Arsenal were filthy and the ref just let them get away with it.

I watched the game as a neutral and yes I was surprised that Arsenal players got away without getting yellows.

Leeds played very well first half and Arsenal in the second.. 1-0 is a fair result but also gives an indication - an indication only - that Leeds could be ok if they got promoted.

I’m not a Leeds supporter by any means, not to I have an inbred hatred for them.

It was a good game - made more enjoyable by their defeat and that they felt there had been some injustice done against them by the referee.
