Not so sure - they seem like a fairly diverse bunch. I think Jess Phillips would be great.

I like Jess but I think she's one for the future, but I believe her candidacy this time is more about her getting into the next Shadow Cabinet than any realistic chance of becoming leader.

I think she really needs to show what she can do with a portfolio, even if it's just a Shadow one, before she can have any realistic hopes of getting the leadership.

Being realistic Labour face a tough choice. Be pragmatic, come back towards the centre and give themselves a chance of being a party if government again and able to change lives OR be principled, stick to the same course Corbyn has put them on and forever be a glorified protest movement

Spoke a lot of sense.

The betting on these leaderships contests is notoriously misleading the male "Starker" (no relation to Koo Stark !!!!)  is allegedly past the post  but my money (real money) is on the "Wigan Pier" Lady  and I expect to collect

Lisa Nandy was excellent on the Andrew Neil show tonight. The best politicians interview I’ve seen for a long while. According to his twitter feed even AN himself was complimentary. I knew little about her but she’s now right up there in the mix after that interview. If you like you’re politicians to be straight talking, clear and waffle free then you’ll be impressed with her.

I've been impressed with Nandy. I don't agree with some of her analysis but she argues it very well.

I was also impressed with Lewis's analysis of the scale of the problem facing Labour. Both of them have come across very well in hard interviews too. Well prepared, tough and passionate about what they believe in.

I've not seen their level of reflection and intellectual application to the challenge facing Labour from any of the other candidates. It's a poor outcome that Lewis had to withdraw to help Thornberry over the line. I've seen nothing from her that remotely matches Lewis's level of analysis.

I expect both Nandy and Lewis to have high positions in the Shadow Cabinet, whoever wins as Leader.

  I watched that interview with Nandy and would agree that she was the best person so far.The next Labour leader is going to have to relate with the people.They cant go down the same road..

 it's the system in place that will hurt Labour from this point onwards.Whilst their has been rumblings that useless fool Len at Unite might back her,i'm sure he hill go with Bailey in the end,but then again i'm not sure how much pull he has with his own members anymore..

The bottom line is the membership/momentum will decide not the mp's and that rules Nandy out..Starmer is favourite but i suspect as it gets closer to vote time JM and JC will push Bailey.Although she has been far from impressive in her interviews so far..

WingCo. The power that McCluskey personally wields over the Labour leadership is the biggest democratic outrage in the country.

He was elected as head of Unite by the votes of just over 5% of Unite members (he won 45% of the votes cast, in a leadership election in which just 12% of Unite members bothered to vote).

That puts him in a position where he can bend the arm of any Labour leader, because he controls funding that Unite gives to Labour.
