Macc in the mire

All the warning signs are there for disaster, unless new owners come in to steady the ship.
Now the players looking to the way out;

After Bury and Bolton you would have hoped for changes to prevent the slide to insolvency.
How many more?

No one gives a toss unless it's a perceived 'big club' - ask both bury and bolton!

That’s the point, Bolton are still around with barely a slap on the wrist, yet Bury have gone to the wall..

But Bury weren’t / aren’t a big club and both were mentioned together.

I think the point was one is a big club, one isn’t, and one is still about, the other isn’t.

So the big club survived and the little one didn’t.. I’m sure that was the point being made.?

The FA and the FL: 30+ years of ineptitude, wilful blindness and downright stupidity. If you wrote a novel with the backstory theirs has you would be laughed out of the country. But those self serving wasters carry on their merry way just like they have ever since the early 1980's.

Ted Croker and Alan Hardaker will be turning in their graves tonight.

Do you know what the FA's Charter says? One of its key principles is that the FA is charged with "looking after the welfare of the game at ALL levels". Exactly when was the last time they looked beyond the Murdoch gravy train eh?

Yep, agreed now.
I read it differently first time round.

The way these clubs are going to the wall, and with the rumours that more are to follow, it not only makes me grateful for having a well run club , in Rovers, that isn't over reaching, but also makes me wonder how many clubs will be left in 5 years!

Might be just us - that would be a small Division !

Maybe (seriously) it will just be 2 elite Leagues Prem and Champ and a bigger "non League" below as Clubs are forced through rising costs and falling Gates etc to go "part time" or "semi pro"

I'd have a fiver that Ferguson wouldn't win the title, even then.

It’s yet another case of a club trying too hard to ‘punch above its weight’.   Macclesfield’s attendances have never been great and in reality, their place is in the National League at best.  As with Bury, owners who fail in their duty to secure the long term future of their club, run the risk of having no club to own.
As someone who grew up supporting the Shakers before moving to Doncaster, I am grateful that Rovers have owners who appear to put long term sustainability before short term gain.

Only a fiver. I never ever gamble but would have a tenner on that.

An old friend of mine, who's no longer with us, was a great influence at Macclesfield and set up and ran the trust there.  It was always held up as a true community club. Since she's been gone it seems to have gone downhill fast.

The FSA have been in talks with the club for some months now, we're hoping we can help them through this.

Haven’t they been charged for failing to fulfill a fixture - that should be heard any year now
