But they could be like this for years or ever rd, the delta one is in over 80 countries now and over 50 new variants are being looked at, you can't stay shut forever

Hopefully it wouldn't be forever but it probably will take a longtime. Until far more of the global population is vaccinated.

It's far from ideal but I don't see an alternative. Living with the virus can't mean just ignoring it, leaving it to circulate risking a more deadly varient.

If it is a variant of concern then yes close the borders, but ones of interest would mean you never open ever

RD, I think your question is difficult to answer properly and with any conviction.
There are the business people who would we should open things up and the scientists who say we shouldn’t.
Both sides present a good case.

They will try to quickly return to something like normality, anyway. That's clear enough.

Given that's the objective the west should be doing much more to get vaccines out globally.

I have a feeling though, getting back to how things used to be is going to prove difficult.

if you mean the delta variant I would carry on as we are now, with social distancing and masks and get more people vaccinated before opening up anything else

once the variant is classed as concern then close the border to that country, the problem with that thou is they come in from a different country, so I don't really know the answer lol

The problem goes much further than government decisions, common sense and individual responsibility will always play a massive part in living with the virus.

Measures will only be as effective as the response they receive.

If the government wasn't full of incompetents that broke the rules themselves, remind me how many of the dumb shits caught the virus? shaking hands with infected people on a covid ward? If they actually followed the best advice themselves maybe the public would trust and follow their lead. One can't lead from the back when facing the the other way.

No point in engaging with you while you are doing your imitation of johnson, remember what I said only a few minutes ago about those following their leader? when leaders set good examples the people understand that it's not do as I say ............ but you are a prime example of the reverse following bad examples from a bad leader, writ large bb

Would common sense not say that if a new, more contagious strain of the virus is discovered in India and you think it is so dangerous that you wish to stop the risk of it reaching this country by closing travel routes from the countries next to India - you should also close travel routes to India.

Yet they didn't. For three weeks. And now try and blame the public for catching it. Pathetic.

I read a article yesterday not sure how accurate but it said the only way to have stopped the delta variant and others is to keep borders closed like Australia and nz, it would just delay it otherwise, it also said them place will struggle when they finally relax restrictions due to people not have having COVID, I'll try find the link was quite a interesting read
