What's the common denominator?

USA worst management of COVID in the world.

Brazil: worst in South America.

UK England: Worst in Europe.

India: Worst in Asia.

All four countries run by right wing popularists.

I did. But that went out the window when the Govt started lying about its management.

At some point you have to start asking hard questions if you are to avoid making the same mistakes again.
Here's a quote that's very apt.

"The use of recriminating about the past is to enforce effective action in the future."

So the UK isn’t then.

That's correct.

Just the bit that Cummings, Johnson and Hancock are in charge of.

UK's largest social care provider says it no longer has access to testing for staff and patients due to an issue with government supply.

Who's not being responsible here BFYP?

The people in the pubs - or the person who opened the pubs when there is a highly infectious disease in the community? The people who run the care homes or the people who should be providing the kit for them to do it safely?

Maybe an approach where you do t have your PM announcing the end of lockdown on 4th of July and calling it Independence Day might have a chance of working?

Just a thought.

2 separate issues aren't they? It shouldn't be difficult to get them that testing.  Right they've removed the tests in place but they should be replaceable.

But I cannot agree on your second point they have to open businesses.  Bear in mind they did this with rules, rules that many cannot abide by unfortunately.  Do we really need the government to enforce everything? That tells us more about our attitude as a nation than the government's actions.

They had to drop the 2M rule and not apply the mask rule before opening pubs became viable. The government has always had to take risks with this virus to get the hospitality industry started again.

So I can't have friends & family around in my garden, but can still go to a pub surrounded by strangers

But you can go to the pub with members of your own household and keep socially distanced from other people.
A bit like going to Tesco really.

As long as you keep a distance from others, if you can't keep a distance the place should not be open.

Yes I know, it was a bit tongue in cheek. These places are enforcing social distancing and have cleaning measures in place.

I can understand not having visitors in our households, but think we should still be allowed to in our gardens.

Not hindsight though. That's the key thing to remember, because that will be the excuse.
