Austerity and the floods

Of all the boneheadedly stupid things the Tories did in the name of Austerity, drastically cutting investment in flood mitigation schemes stands out a mile.

They were warned that floods were going to get worse. They were told that every pound spent on flood defences saved £9.50 in flood damage costs. And STILL they cut back the funding.

They should be flayed alive every time a minister goes on the BBC and parrots bullshit about how they are doing all they can to protect people from the floods. The idiots are responsible for the string of flood disasters from Fishlake to Shrewsbury.

Donny has been pinpointed as one of the areas most affected. Some 4,000 new houses in flood prone areas.

I always thought building on areas like the pastures at Mexborough, or on the low marshy land behind the Keepmoat, or beside the river down Wheatley Hall road looked dodgy.

And here's proof that the miserable policies of the tories are actually doing you harm.

''Austerity blamed for life expectancy stalling for first time in century
Landmark England review says policy causing unprecedented damage to health and life chances''

So those that voted for these pr*cks can bask in the knowledge that while you are baling your home out you won't live so long so the suffering will be less.
