Volunteering
« on March 22, 2020, 03:36:12 pm by Monkcaster_Rover »
Good afternoon all,

If like me you're in good health, of age, fit & healthy I believe most hospitals are accepting applications for volunteers.

I'm based in Hull and I know the general hospital here are open to putting folk through an application process which will include a medical etc.

Not too sure what it'll consist of, mundane tasks I'm willing to wager, cleaning, talking to patients, pushing people around. Who knows.

Just a thought. All in it together, aren't we.

Bang on. I've just signed up in Sheffield. Everyone with any spare time needs to do this.

Nice one, Billy.

You'd be alright in the waiting rooms BB, crack a few jokes, take people's minds off what's potentially ahead of them!

Do you mean as well as stopping people like Mr Wiggerly entering the ward? A sort of anti-depressant role?

The only link I've got is for Hull Royal.

I'll send my form off & once they get back to me i'll ask about DRI as I've had a few friends ask the question as well.

I work at a council run Airport, (Newquay) double whammy of flybe collapse (70%of our business) and covid. Been home for last week and a half as 2kids been poorly. But just had a letter today saying the terminal is shutting for a few months and all none operational staff being redeployed within the council to help the covid response. Think its a good step and keeps people's jobs.

Evening all,

For those who have signed up & may have missed it.

I had an email through earlier saying there was a few glitches with the App (I've had mine on pretty much none stop last 3 week - not a buzz) but it's getting sorted so should be able to start doing some errands etc.

Hope everyone & their families are well.

Monk

In Sheffield, it has taken them weeks to get organised, but they have done so very well now. I'll be doing my first service this week.

It feels good to be finally able to put something into the effort to protect people.

My Mrs has had the app on since its launch and had one buzz. I’ve heard there is just no demand for the number of volunteers they have. Better to be prepared and not needed than the other way round.

Best of luck with it all Billy.

Same as you I'm looking forward to getting involved & making use of myself.

Would make sense. A lady told me the app is generally aimed at older folk & they can't get their head round it, just yet.

Just looked at my live map & there's loads of active volunteers in my area so I'd like to think most areas are the same!
