Run the clocks back 81 years.

1939.

Many (and I MEAN "many") senior politicians (and this is not a matter for debate, they were ALL on the Right) were saying the same thing about dealing with Hitler.

The price of fighting will be higher than the price of giving into him. Let's not fight. Let Hitler take Europe and we can come to terms with him. We will stay rich and have our Empire.

Fortunately, we kept our moral nerve. We did the right thing. We fought. We took on the hardships and the discomforts and the economic carnage.

We lost billions of pounds.

We lost years of productive growth.

We lost an entire empire.

We lost our place as a truly Great Power in the world.

But it didn't matter . Because it was right.

We damn nearly bankrupted ourselves, but afterwards, the country could stand proud and say it made the right choice when the choice was there to be made.

Think about that.

Then listen to that f**king moral black hole, Trump. And think which side of the argument he'd have been on in 1939...

Christ Almighty!

Is he pushing to end the developing lockdown in the USA, and just go to business as normal?

There will be 4 million dead over there by August if he does this.

I rarely pray these days, but please, God, no!

Interesting point you make BST.  It's interesting given that in modern times it is thought acceptable and millions push not to be involved in places like Syria for example where how many people have been killed horrifically?

I do though agree on Trump, he is fast going to be on the wrong side of this argument.
