Unusual band/artist names
« on May 16, 2020, 10:04:42 am by IDM »
Was listening to some old music the other day which reminded me I heard much of it on John Peel originally.  I remember he played an eclectic mix of stuff, with plenty of weird and wonderful band/artist names.

Which ones can you remember?  I’ll kick off with two:

Eek, a mouse!

and

Billy Bremner...

You want me to list my entire record collection!

Grobschnitt
The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Baby Jesus
Ozric Tentacles
The Amazing Blondel
Premiata Forneria Marconi
Barclay James Harvest

fortunately The Cleaners from Venus don't trouble my collection but I did always like the name if not the music

Hapshash and the Coloured Coat.  I still have their Western Flyer album from 1969!  Crazy music.

Just been looking through my music collection and most of my bands have very dull names.

Oddest one is The Wolfgang Press. And they were mostly shite anyroad.

I had a vague memory of “Scraping Foetus off the Wheel” being an actual name of a band, but I can’t remember any of their stuff..

Any band with punctuation in tends to be a bit out there. Sunn O))) is my personal favourite (not a typo).

Butthole Surfers.
Kurt Cobain's favourite band.

They have a decent stab at the weirdest album title of all time.

Went to see Adge Cutler and the Wurzels back in the early 70's.  Adge didn't turn up and the Wurzels were awful!

Also went to see Steeleye Span who were very good.

Saw Steeleye Span at the Dome when they were supporting Tull.

The latest (first actually although they have been together for while) album from A Formal Horse is entitled: Here Comes A Man From the Council With A Flamethrower.

And it sounds just like you think it would sound with that title

Agreed. She's been on at Cast fairly recently too; my mum went to see her.
