Eoin Doyle
« on July 09, 2020, 03:14:46 am by Draytonian III »
Is set to leave Swindon and sign a three year deal at Bolton, one the reasons he went on loan last season from Bradford was to get him off the wage bill because he was one of the high earners and now he’s going to Bolton.

Top scorer in L1 last year and Ali Crawford also re-signed. Looks like Sarcevic from Plymouth will be next so shows the intent the new owners have to get back up the leagues quickly. Looking forward to playing you again soon.

Looks like the new owners haven't learned a lesson from past administrations.

3 year contract at 32 I bet he’s laughing his nuts off - good player but ridiculous contract

Spending money like water again, I hope you make it to the Championship in the next couple of years or it’s likely to bite you in the backside.

I think you’ll find it’s “up to” 3 years Branton which is somewhat different. Since we can’t pay any fees obviously it allows us to give attractive contracts but we are working with a reduced squad size so total spend is well within limits.

Yes but will they get round the salary caps like so many others have by cheating the system?

The salary caps haven't been voted through yet...so I'm not sure what you mean about the past?

Expenditure is supposed to be only a certain % of turnover.

That's FFP and covers all expenditure.

Bradford City have 14 contracted players and this budget is over the salary cap of £1.5m. Vaughan is on £5k a week so that is almost a third of the budget. Why should he leave when he won't get that anywhere else?
Some players could drop to the Conference as supposedly they won't have a cap.

Im not sure the salary cap can work realistically. How can you have the same maximum value for a club like Barrow say who will average 2k fans and Donny with say 8k or Wanderers with 10-12k or a Sunderland with 30k? It doesn’t make any sense. The only sensible way to Finance is for the PL to cough up more support from their ridiculous current earnings.

It worked for decades in the days of maximum wage.

Yes it did, until Jimmy Hill scuppered it. Not a good move on his part IMO.

Plus everything else. Which a salary cap doesn't include. Very different.

Thats pretty ironic coming from a fan of a club that wanted the PL to be a closed shop when they were in the PL 😂😂😂

The more money u throw at it the more money players will demand , its the only way to sort the wages out at clubs , got to start somewhere, players who are still under contract from a previous season should be excempt just to get the ball rolling and in a few seasons it will be the norm for good lower league players to be on say 2k a week not 5k ,

I know where you’re coming from Anton but a salary cap at that level for L1 and L2 will just create an even bigger chasm between the Championship and lower leagues and surely can’t be good for the game as we know it. The only sensible way would be to integrate the PL back into the EFL and share the spoils more evenly but we all know that’s not going to happen. Just fiddling about at the edges is silly when we all know a root and branch realignment is what’s needed.

Can't see Bolton being around in three years anyway
