Bout 10 years ago at Legoland, helped a woman carry pushchair down stairs. She said thank you and that I was much more use than than her husband who had left her to it. Turned out they were all in queue at next ride and we took great pleasure in beating Toby Young  at the fire engine race.

I very nearly walked straight into Phil Taylor as I was exiting a shop in Düsseldorf airport

I had a photo with Reg from The Bill in the bar of the Travelodge we were staying at on my stag do. His band were playing in town. My mates wanted him to get me in a headlock but he wouldn't do it.

I also saw Mark E Smith in Paris CDG airport at the departure gate. I left him alone.

I wouldn’t actually brag about sharing anything with Prince Andrews

I once stood immediately behind John Parrot in a Chinese Takeaway queue and didn't even recognise him until my wife told me afterwards....

I once queued up next to Russell Grant in a KFC in Blackpool. His Rolls Royce was parked outside with his mother in it.

That reminds me...
When I was about 15 and unfeasibly good looking (Donny wolf will confirm)
I was standing on York station and I saw Saville walking towards me.
At first I thought blimey a star but the way he was staring at me was weird, so I sort of sidled behind one of those pillars they have there.
Creepy.

I hope you were in front of him.

He was in front of me! He bought about three bagfuls of stuff. He must have spent a fortune.

A little over 10 years ago I used to work in the Frankie & Benny’s down near the Dome. As well as regular Rovers players visiting I once had the pleasure of serving Paul Chuckle. He was very friendly and talkative until I served him his starter - couldn’t resist saying “to you” as I handed it over. Very quiet after that, although he was still a generous tipper.

Also had a piss next to Teddy Sheringham at a bar in Clapham not so long ago. They used to say the extra yard was in his head but I can confirm it was really somewhere else.

If anyone's got the DVD of "The Damned United", go to the deleted scenes in Special Features, and then to the heading "Never got it". You'll probably agree that the guy doing a walk-on as Bill Shankly is far too good looking for that part.

12 years later, if you see a guy with a shaven head and gargoyle features in the South Stand, I can assure you it's the same bloke.

Just watched the film again. Is that you walking out at Wembley SS? Snappy dresser.

Yeah, the costume department had to replicate the gear Shanks wore that day.

No wonder film budgets are so high. Two days filming at Saltergate, and one at Elland Road, to replicate that Wembley match, and all the scenes got deleted. The local amateur footballers, all recruited because they were lookalikes for Leeds and Liverpool players, couldn't hack the football scenes well enough, so the director, Tom Hooper, opted for original news footage instead.

I wasn't complaining. I got paid, and got to work with Michael Sheen and Stephen Graham for 3 days; both of them really nice, humble guys.

SS.

The Wembley walkout isn't the original. I'm assuming that's you on there? And you as Shankly showing annoyance at the Keegan-Bremner spendings off.

43:50 and 45:50 here.

Must have been great to work with Michael Sheen. He's a bloody genius actor.

Have you seen "Staged" on BBC? Absolutely superb.

They shot some of the office scenes at The West Yorkshire main police station in Bradford if I remember right.

Well spotted BST, I'd forgotten about those scenes. The first one was at Saltergate, as were all the crowd scenes (involving lots of extras). The second one was at Elland Road, mainly because the old players tunnel was used to replicate the Wembley tunnel.

Incidently, I thought Colm Meaney was excellent as Don Revie.

Thanks. I'll check that out.

He was also superb as Kenneth Williams in "Fantabulosa".

He's done a few TV films as Blair which I thought he was good in.
