Cant make my mind up about Halliday's goal, did he mean that? his foot and leg were at a strange angle for a shot.  A wins a win, and against local rivals too.

I think he meant it.
Looking at the position he was in, what else could he have been intending to do?
Lots of players can hit the ball like that with the outside of the boot.

Yes he meant it alright. He just made a last second adjustment to get his foot right behind it (avoiding the slice wide) and he got the bend on it, which it didn't really need as it was going in anyway, but made it look more spectacular.

Part of his game that he could have done better last season as he has got a decent shot on him. He gets into some great positions so if he can chip in with 5 or 6 in a season, we have goal threats from both full backs.

i think he meant it, but does it matter as long as it goes in

Scunny have posted some pictures on their Twitter feed. Some faces I don't recognise - any sleuths on the forum? https://www.Scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2020/august/photos-doncaster-rovers-h/

Good find.

The trialists.

So we have 2 of the names of the trialists worked out. The lad at the bottom is probably the one that’s been around teams in Europe and the young lad released from a Prem team wasn’t photographed.

Who’s the 2nd name. Only seen Ed Williams being confirmed

Nathan Thomas, just been release by Sheff Utd and was on loan at Carlisle last season. Can play on either wings.

I'm not sure that's Nathan Thomas. If you compare that picture with his google images they dont look that similar, however the camera can lie!!

Arm tattoos are the giveaway, pretty sure it's him.

Is Ravenhill a combative midfielder like his dad then? Be great if he makes the step up here.

In the few times I’ve watched young Ravenhill, for the u18’s, I would say there’s definitely a hint of his dad in the way he loves a challenge. One to watch, for sure.

Good to hear that Alan. If he's inherited his dad's genes he'll endear himself to the fans. We all recall Ricky being a tough tackler but he was a good footballer too. He looked at bit gangly at times but was deceptive.

From the YouTube highlights, the guy who played no 20 looked a bit on the slow side not having a great deal of pace and speed of thought.

A bit early to judge on the fleeting glimpses but curious who he is. Looks a strapping lad!

Someone on Twitter says Petrus Boumal.

During that first half, we seemed to be giving the ball away in midfield a lot, and Scunny were ripping our defence apart at times.

If it weren't for a couple of great saves from Jones, and a couple of missed sitters from Scunny, they could have been out of sight at half time.

Definitely a much stronger team in the second half.

Dors it matter who they are at this stage? When they sign is what matters who they are

It’s a bit of fun trying to identify who they all are

Are there any highlights available other than those posted by Scunthorpe.?  If not then they won’t be in our favour..

Either way, it’s only a practice match so the score is largely irrelevant.

Cheers DO for that link.
There were quite a few very good chances missed as someone suggested earlier.

Per DFP - Gomes wasn't included vs Scunny due to "lack of fitness".

Does that sound a bit unprofessional or am I viewing this wrongly? Everybody else was up to speed on their fitness and able to play but he wasn't? Very odd.

The he missed a couple of days makes it sound like he had a knock or something. Nothing to worry about.
