Another example of how our Govt works today.

Have a read of this thread about the £3.6bn Towns Fund.

How the civil service drew up guidance on which towns should qualify.

How Jenrick disregarded that and effectively chose the town's himself. And massively weighted funding to marginal seats.

Absolute Banana Republic stuff. Does anyone care anymore?

PS. If you want to skim it, the key tweets in the thread are 7, 8 and 12.

This is just unreal. Jenrick being quizzed on this scandal by Marr. Listen here from 57:00.

If you haven't seen this, you're missing a classic.

Jenrick is asked why his constituency of Newark got Towns Fund money when it was ranked 107th in the priority list and only the top 40 got automatic funding.

Jenrick says there was a second round of other towns outside the top 40 that were chosen for funding.

Jenrick: And I think I know what your next question is going to be and no I had no involvement in the decision to award funding to Newark. Because ministers must not get involved in decisions on their own constituency.

Marr: So who made that decision.

Jenrick: Junior minister Jake Berry.

Marr: And his constituency got the optional funding too didn't it?

Jenrick: Yes and that decision was...was...err made by...err another...err minister.

Marr: Who made that decision.

Jenrick: It was...err...I did.

Absolute copper plate Banana Republic stuff. That t**t Jenrick is just simply out of control.

Yet another example of how our Govt operates today. And this one should seriously worry anyone who cares about our security.

Context: The Russia Report when finally published after being delayed by Johnson for a year, expressed incredulity that the Govt wasn't launching investigations into Russian cyber attacks on our Govt.

You might remember, Johnson's response was that his Govt hadn't ordered investigations to find evidence of Russian attacks because they hadn't seen any evidence that Russia was attacking us.

So today, the US authorities have launched legal action against Russian state actors who tried to breach UK MoD security after the Salisbury attack.

Have you heard about it in the news today?

No, me neither. I DID hear about this one though on the R4 10pm news.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/technology-54600098

What an odd coincidence! On the very day that American security shows the UK that the very heart of our defence system was being attacked by Russia (and the Johnson Govt ignored it), the Johnson Govt releases a story about the Olympics.

Surely not a smokescreen? A trivial story to divert attention from the glaring fact that we are ignoring what Russia is doing to our national systems?
