My cynical side suggests this may be “fake news” to delay the election..  however isn’t this where his running mate/VP steps in.?

Just heard Jon Sopel, the BBC's USA Editor, on R4. He said that yesterday, he saw with his own eyes, Trump and several aides get into a helicopter on the White House lawn with none of them wearing masks. One of the aides was Hope Hicks who shortly afterwards received news that she had tested positive. So presumably, she had had a test by then or at the very least was symptomatic.

I wouldn't actively wish this disease on anyone, but frankly, the lot of them deserve whatever is coming to them.

But yes, also it does seem very convenient timing. 1 month from an election that he is going to lose badly, resulting in catastrophe for him personally. An election whose result he has refused to say he would accept.

I thought the same but given his attitude there's no doubt he had a high chance of catching it.

The downside for Americans is if he breezes through it he'll portray himself as a super hero and many more of his type won't wear masks or distance.

Best treatment available for him of course - and if he cant overcome this all his supporters will be crying "foul" as pundits have been queueing up to say the Republicans have long accused the Democrats of "producing" the Virus just to stop Trump getting 4 more years.

I still think (and do) that if he wins another term he will somehow try to engineer an end to the 2 terms only Presidency a la Putin recently

Norman Swan respected doctor has run a bit of commentary on the risk to others and said that if/how contagious he was he could have given it to Biden ................ around 90min in the same studio with raised voices.

Worst scenario trump doesn't get sick by Biden does.

My cynical side thinks it affects something more immediate - now that they're not going to let him try to bully Biden in the next two debates - he knows he has no other debate strategy than continually interrupting and shouting down Biden - this looks like a reason not to have those next two debates...
