Parking ticket
« on October 05, 2020, 10:53:50 am by swain_drfc »
Anyone else been caught out by this?

During the bank holiday weekend when the club shop was open I went to the club shop on the Friday to buy my son the new home and away shirt. 1 week later and I get hit with a £60 parking fine for simply parking in car park 1 for 15 minutes.

Turned into a 120 quid trip to the club shop

Sorry mate, car park 1 has been out of bounds for a long time and there are signs everywhere to that effect. Why didn't you just park in car park 2 - it's literally a minute to the shop and ticket office from there?

There's plenty of signs up in the car park with the restrictions printed.

It's car park 2 for visiting the stadium if I remember correctly

Afraid so mate..It's been debated on here many times with a lot getting caught out like yourself who didn't realise car park 1 isn't actually anything to do with Rovers.

Get in touch with the club, if you have a receipt or a record of your purchase I am sure if possible they will do something about it.

In my experience absolutely nothing.
In the past I would advise you to ignore it but the law has changed. By all means appeal and appeal again. You never know!

I would ignore Rovers Returns post as that £60 fine could soon become a £120 fine.

Yes - as per Wing Commanders #4 we really have done this to death on here but if you are a relative newcomer or missed it there is a lot of information on here that will help. It started as Car Park 3 but morphed into a Car Park 1 discussion and there are a few pointers to follow before you pay up !

Hope it helps

I've got one as well. Sorry if I'm being blind but I never saw these signs.

To be fair, you can just park in front of the shop.

Signs are not clear at all as you enter. I also parked right in the corner nearest the lakeside as only going for a walk. I only parked there as that's where I see to all the time. I haven't seen the sign so b*llocks to paying their fine.

Good luck with telling them you didn't see the sign so your not paying the fine.

I've also parked there 3 other times this week. Presume more letters will follow.

To be fair RR is a bit of an expert when it comes to tickets of this sort. I wouldn’t dismiss his advice out of hand.

Probably would be smart if we had a barrier on car park 1 which only people who work in there have scannable ID to get in.

Some would find a short cut in and out probably nd still complain if they got a Parking Charge Notice

Beats me on rare times I go to Car Boot that people a blatantly parked on Yellow Lines instead of paying the nominal fee - and always glad to see they are "Ticketed" with ones that will stick a) to the windscreen and b) in Court if neccessary

last time I went in there, the sign at the entrance was high up on the left, covered by bushes, well out of eye sight of the driver.  If its busy and you drive all the way round to the top corner. Signs can quite easily be covered by other cars, vans etc.  As you get out to walk by the cages, the main place where it is impossible to miss, there's zero signs!! Obviously strategically misplaced to catch out innocent punters going to the club shop!

Turns out a lot of people have been hit by it. Eventually they get bored of sending threatening letters.

I was at the KM today.
There is a big sign on the left hand side of the CP1 entrance that says “Permit holders only”.

On a previous Thread about this which I think I attached to this thread - I counted the signs IN Car Park 1 and to be fair I couldnt tell you how many there were

Its either 16 or 17 because as the post says I lots count at the end - but sufficient imho that anyone parking in there would not miss them - and with all the Private Parking Companies they tend to be "in your face" because they need to show you had entered into a Contract with them when parking

Front and centre of that is of course they have to provide signs on which the Terms & Conditions of that contract are easily available

I parked yesterday at Lakeside Village and there are quite a number of Signs BUT I feel there are many more per square Metre there in Car Park 1

I DO genuinely hope that this latest thread DOES finally stop people being ticketed for going into car park 1 and again as I and a few others on there said - just park in CP two at the end nearest the Club shop / Box Office or drive right  round the Stadium and park right in front of either if less mobile (both options take you much nearer anyway)
