Comparison
« on December 05, 2020, 08:14:50 pm by Chris Black come back »
After 14 games in League One, we are on 24 points. Not doing so badly at all in comparison.

2019/20 (Moore) we were on 23 points
2018/19 (McCann) we were on 25 points
2012/13 (Saunders) we were on 27 points
2007/08 (O'Driscoll) we were on 21 points

2007/08, we only picked up 7 points from the next 6 games. I would guess that, after 20 games this season, we should be streets ahead of that.

Updating this after the Gillingham game. We have now played 15 and have 27 points. This now matches the best form we have had a this stage in a League One season.

2019/20 (Moore) we were on 23 points
2018/19 (McCann) we were on 25 points
2012/13 (Saunders) we were on 27 points
2007/08 (O'Driscoll) we were on 22 points

Timely to update this. We are now on 33 points after 18 games with three clean sheets. In comparison:

2019/20 (Moore) we were on 25 points, with three clean sheets
2018/19 (McCann) we were on 28 points, with three clean sheets
2012/13 (Saunders) we were on 33 points, with six clean sheets
2007/08 (O'Driscoll) we were on 27 points, with seven clean sheets

Think the McCann side was best to watch of those. Mainly Herbie-Copps-Wilks-Whiteman-Marquis axis.

Yep shows how well he is doing I would say.  Disappointing last night but we have improved and we shouldn't lose sight of that despite the disappointing result last night.

Is there a reason you only look at clean sheets as a secondary metric? If anyone’s interested, here are GS/GC as well:

2019/20 (Moore) 27 GS, 20 GC (+7 GD)
2018/19 (McCann) 27 GS, 25 GC (+2)
2012/13 (Saunders) 24 GS, 16 GC (+8)
2007/08 (O'Driscoll) 25 GS, 19 GC (+6)

We’ve scored 32 and conceded 20 so far this season so from a goal scoring perspective we’re doing significantly better than all of the previous seasons mentioned.

No reason other that I find it annoying that even in games we totally dominate, we end up conceding. Very odd and while no means an absolute outlier, it is striking the contrast with the SOD and Saunders seasons.

Fair enough and I’d prefer a slightly tighter defence but I suppose our points total shows that there are more than one ways to win a football match.

That’s true. And perhaps the reason we are well ahead of the SOD team is the number of draws they racked up whereas we appear to play for a win.

Wonder who we're leapfrogging on the last day in stoppage time this year?

I wonder what Saunders had in his budget, by comparison.

Just shows what DM has achieved so far!

Not really a comparison, but more an observation..  Aside from the opening game v mk dons, we appear to have won every game we have scored first in. Not bad for a side that can't keep clean sheets..

Out of them all... Moore has the smaller budget

Do we know that for a fact,or is it Moore has used a smaller budget so far?The signs are he will not spend just because it's available, whereas most managers would.

Following the AFC Wimbledon match, we are now on 21 games in the league and have 42 points, compared to:

2019/20 (Moore) we were on 31 points
2018/19 (McCann) we were on 35 points
2012/13 (Saunders) we were on 40 points
2007/08 (O'Driscoll) we were on 31 points

You can see the clear blue water there between a good play off season and an automatic promotion season.

8 wins from 10 is an outstanding run, must be one of our best?
