Matt Smith
« on January 23, 2021, 03:46:01 pm by 5 on Tour »
I know we are playing a far superior team who are looking really up for it but one player is standing out as not at the races for us today.

Matt Smith is looking completely overcome by the occasion. His passing is absolutely all over the place and his positional play is nothing short of awful so far.

He’s young and learning and I don’t want to have a go at the lad but he needs switching at half time.

Nobody so far has been good.

Lokilo and Taylor are offering nothing on the wings. A couple of times balls have been played in behind. Lokilo just takes forever and dallies. Taylor just wants to play it safe and cut back.

Halliday and Wright playing out of position have been our best players.

Taylor Richards on for me. Lazy at times and probably why not starting but he is the one who could provide something decent in the final third

Lets not pick the team apart. For me its the tactics. We have to leave the front 3 in spaces further up the pitch when West Ham attack or we are never gonna get the opportunity in attack. Stay as we are and this will be 5 comfortably for them anyway. So lets at least be more positive in how we set up.

I think our defence and midfield doesnt look balanced at all with 4 centre backs and 2 full backs. But we are down in numbers and we wont play a team of West Ham quality again this season.
I would bring Richard's on as he has that extra quality on the ball.

Imagine picking faults in a third division team playing against a top Prem team.

Imagine having a view on things and talking about them on a discussion forum. Also in almost every single post I’ve seen we are talking about the balance of our team not whether Lokilo is better Lanzini or Smith is better Noble.

Wind your neck in and think before posting.

You've not been looking very hard then. We were outclassed by a top half Prem team get over it

Come on then Raven. Read through this thread and show me a single comparison to a West Ham player. Guess you haven’t been looking very hard.

Must admit I was beginning to think how poor Wales must be if he can get so many caps but absolutely bossed it tonight. As a unit the whole midfield defended superbly and closed down in 2's n 3's

I hope we can get him and Richards back next season.
Maybe we might do if we get promoted.

Well their clubs must be over the moon with how they are getting game time in a winning side and their confidence must be growing game by game.

Neither will get near their parent club first 11s while ever they are in the prem.

I see no reason at all why Smith (certainly) couldn't be snared on a permanent and Taylor-Richards would, i think, come back for at least another loan spell.

Smith was excellent tonight, but I’ll tell you something, Taylor Richards will be a top top player, he just needs to get his stamina up, seems to fade after a hour or so

Richards might, Brighton are good at blooding young players into the first team - look at the progress of Bissouma this season, and Connolly is another who has had a fair shake. Smith though, he's never getting near the City team, no. He was brilliant tonight, would love to see him stay longer at the club.

Richards didn't look out of his depth when he came on against West Ham, in my opinion.

It appears the signing of JB may have had more of an impact than we thought, already.

Of the two i would rather sign Taylor Richards, But I would love to sign Matt Smith as well as I think Darren has a fantastic eye for Talent.
