The perspective was Portsmouth losing to Hull 4-0.

Marquis had a perfectly good goal disallowed, before Hull got their last 3.

Perspective to me is yesterday we had 13players to choose from. Looking at 2 of them Taylor and Smith they are not fully fit from having Covid.
DM said he hoped to get two players in early this week, for me there should not be hope but we must ensure these players are available for Tuesday. He talks that we win as a team and lose as a team. We get players in as a club or lose them as a club. That’s my perspective because other wise we only slightly better off for Tuesday.

Also another bit of perspective how many Premier league teams have lost their fourth round game so far against lower opposition,  teams might have played well against them, answer none. We could have played better but I would rather win on Tuesday night what ever the performance.

I think this season any further progress in the Cup would have been detrimental to our focus on the League.
We have a depleted squad to choose from at the moment with a very congested league program ahead.
As much as I love the FA Cup and the publicity and money a great Cup run brings to the club I think that defeat at West Ham will be blessing in disguise.
Any further progress i think could have seriously derailed our league chances.

CR,
Thats exactly how I see it but I would have liked to see a better performance to bow out.

You are at liberty to think that Alick but quite honestly i don’t think West Ham let us play any better.

Once we went a goal down so early we were very much up against it.
As has been said it’s we had gone gung ho we would probably have lost 7 nil. Maybe worse.
That wouldn’t have done confidence any good. I expected to lose 3-0 at least. I never normally expect us to lose even against higher league opposition.
West Ham were in great form, extremely focused on seeing us off and the gulf in class is huge when the top half Premier League teams play any team from League 1.

We move on and tomorrow night is far more important than last Saturday. We are in a fantastic position in the league. That’s where the focus must be and will be now.
Onwards and upwards.  :scarf:

I think we showed a couple of glimpses in the 2nd half moving forward  of how we could cause them trouble and i would have liked to have scored a goal.

In fairness, if we'd have given it our all and won, the bbc would have only reported it as how poor West Ham had played against the common oiks from up north.

The fact that we can't get to watch has taken the gloss off the progress this year, it would just be good to make the same progress next year starting from the 3rd round if possible

I wonder how much cash the club made from the Cup in total?

Including the virtual seats purchased.

£138,692

I'm pretty sure there was a loser's purse for the 4th Round as well so that's not right, nor does it include the virtual ticket sales from this time or our TV money from the FC United and West Ham ties.

I'd be keen to know roughly the full figure.

Loser's purse! The curse of auto-correct when I post on my phone, it does it so often.

Not sure I'd want to Google "lover's purse" like!  :chair:
