Cantley Park Training Ground
« on February 01, 2021, 06:48:54 pm by paddy hoops »
Just talking to a mate who was asking about Cantley Park, we were discussing the facilities down there and it got me wondering if there were (/are, but obvs with covid any current plans are on hold) for developing the facilities there??
I mean the buildings are looking a bit aged and there are fair few portercabins but i cant really speak for whats inside as I've never been.

From what I have seen on training ground videos and listening to interviews, while the outside looks like an old school sports hall and dinner hall all in one with overflow 'tempory' classrooms, but the equipment in them is top quality.

While it would be great to have a huge training center I would rather at this moment in time get in a few extra players. Once in the championship then maybe we could look at getting a new building with newer stuff.

Remember just a pub team having a laugh

I presume with all the lying snow from last night, there'll be no outside training at CP. I bet Darren's disappointed he can't get the lads together outside, and give the newbie's some time to intigrate into his tactics. Presuming of course, it is unplayable out there.
Maybe some weights and fitness training inside is the order of the day.

How deep is the snow.??  That may not get much joy kicking a ball around but running around should be ok, as long as it isn’t icy.?

I'd like to see all the broken fencing mended. Not only does it look third rate but, when we get to play Leeds again, their scouts have a field day!

Quite a bit of money has been invested in the last few seasons on some of the facilities at Cantley Park, in fact a major upgrade to all the gym equipment was done recently.

There are other much bigger plans for the whole area, which may or may not happen. Its been a part of the current ownerships strategy for DRFC for some time, although I'm sure the financial constraints of the current pandemic will have an effect of the timing. It may still happen.
