February 2nd, Top 7 teams fixtures.
« on February 02, 2021, 02:05:57 am by les@donr »
Only fixture that affects us is Charlton v Portsmouth

A draw would be the best result for us, both dropping 2 points.

A win for Charlton would be better than a win for Portsmouth.

What do you think?

Charlton are five points behind us having played three games more. I am not sure they are a credible challenger. Portsmouth are four points behind having played a game more. A draw would be a good result but these two are dropping off the pace for contention as automatic promotion candidates.

This game will be postponed again, shower forecast and JM forgot to take his broom again.

Too many fixtures left for all teams for us to be too concerned over other results.  We just need to concentrate on accumulating our own points tally.

Best if they both lose.

I’m not sure why we are not playing tonight.   There must have been somebody we could have played to mop up one of our many games in hand?

Hopefully it’s a draw with JM scoring as I’ve backed him as a anytime scorer

Isn’t it an EFL trophy fixture week.?  Maybe some of our opponents we need to re arrange with can’t do this week.?

Haven’t we already got 7 league matches this month anyway.?

I think it’s a bit too early to be looking at other teams results, it’s cliche but we just need to keep winning ourselves as we have been doing and we will be fine.

Having said that, if we had to pick a final result, it’d probably be a draw. A loss for either team pulls them further away though.

No way it’s too early. OK, if we were mid-table right now, I might be less interested in what others are doing, but, we’re right in the mix and so it’s worth keeping tabs on what everyone else is trying to do.

If your interested in football, it’s all good fun, in my eyes.

I always look at other sides results and performances. I agree if you win then the rest have to match you to keep up but I always find the twists and turns regarding rivals results and form fascinating.
Especially when two or three fixtures have rivals playing other on the same date.
As soon as the whistle has gone in our game see who have slipped up near us.

I'm with you there, Alan.  Looking after our own results is what those with the responsibility for achieving it must do, as supporters we're blessed to have the freedom to be interested in what everyone else is doing as well as us.  It's part of the fun.

I can’t disagree with that as I check the results and the table, and watch the goals on quest.  But what I meant was not to be too concerned over the other results at present.  Doesn’t mean I’m not interested - especially where the form of our upcoming opponents is concerned..

I think Blackpool will come again. Wouldn't be surprised to see them closing in on the play offs not too far into the future.

Yup, games coming thick and fast for us now.

7 games in Feb
8 games in March
7 games in April

The players are probably happy with a rest this midweek. Starting at the weekend we've got 7 weeks of Saturday/Tuesday games on the bounce*!

*Obviously this could well change with COVID outbreaks and weather etc.

Pompey currently 3-1, if that stands, they will be a point behind us. Not the score we wanted.

It’s getting really crowded in and around the play-off zone. Loads on 40 points now.

Lincoln beat Hull 4-3 on penalties, in EFL Trophy. (So, they can take pens, then!).

We may lose a couple however one of our games in hand comes up shortly and that will be important.

If our league position slips, as long as we stay within striking distance for the final 10/11 games we are still in with a great shout.
