Royal Oak Pub on the long straight

New Inn on bend but maybe changed name to Kingfisher before closing

Jolly Sailor - hardly got engine warm. I never went to Clee by bus but did go on packed special Train trips twice

We used to stop at the Royal Oak in our scooter days on the way to Brid. On one occasion we had more than just the usual 1 pint and had several. We kipped in the car park. Great days.

What scooter did you have? I used to have a couple of PX200s.

1969 Lambretta SX200. I bought it from Terry Robinson's A1 scooters on Balby Road.

Sounds Monty Pythonish but we used to go to Brid for the weekend regularly and I used to have about 50p pocket money! We slept in a sheltered bus stop opposite the old beacon tower as you enter Flamborough Head. The lady in the house nearby used to fetch us tea and biscuits in the morning.

Fond memories flooded back every time I drove past that shelter over the years since, until the last time, when they'd knocked the bugger down.

Great, GREAT days!

It's funny how we all had good times with little or no money to spend.

My cousin had a Lambretta, he spent more time pushing it than riding it, as soon as magneto got wet it broke down

That's why i had Vespas. Lammys had the style but Vespa had the reliability.

Lambrettas were fanny magnets. Vespas were virgin chariots!

Bet u wish u still had it. You can pretty much name your price these days for an sx200.  I’m the proud owner of an original paint 1960 series 2.

Too right! I often wonder if it's still on the road somewhere. Do you know if there's any way of finding out?

You could contact the Lambretta Club Great Britain. There are some very good Facebook groups too. If you have pics and the Reg of it just put it out there. Donny still has one of the biggest and they would say best and long-standing scooter clubs, the Doncaster Hunters. They have their own fb page too. An sx200 is very likely to still be out there.

And if you find it and want it back, you would probably be looking at high four figures, and if it’s a minter it woulD be five figures.

Doncaster Hunters. That brings back memories. Around half a dozen of us from Wheatley used to meet up with them in the '70s at the baron piece of land in town that is now The Colonnades.

They still meet up and I was going to their 50th anniversary weekend bash at Wheatley wmc last year.Sadly got cancelled. They are a very well supported and attended club with regular weekly ride outs .

That's interesting. I wonder if Leeds Inkers are still going? Remember them?

I went to the Hunters meetings at the drum in Bentley in the 80's
