Humber bridge footpath closures.

With six suicides in One month those that operate the bridge have chosen to close the footpaths indefinitely.
Whilst the loss of life is tragic, the bridge is a magnet for walkers and cyclists and I for one will miss this. I was looking forward to meeting my dad here and walking it (again)
Given the importance of mental health and the great outdoors and the better weather coming, this is a bigger loss than risk surely?
Those intent on taking their lives will find other means sadly.

Need to put some fencing up around the path to stop people climbing over the side.

I personally didn't know you could walk over it

It’s a cracking walk. We park on the south side, walk over, have a pint in the pub (when open) in the country park next to it, and then walk back. Great exercise, great views, a great half day out.

I remember back in the 80’s running over the bridge.
It was (I think) the Humber Ten (mile race).
We set off from Hessle in calm conditions but when we were on the bridge it was incredible how windy it was with the wind coming straight down the river from the sea.
Raced round Barton then back into the wind and over the bridge again.

Biked it from Thorne last year, it's a fantastic view. Hopefully they will come up with a resolution soon to allow it to reopen
