Exactly my point regarding the stats being reported for Covid within 28 days of death

No problem you buying your season ticket then.

What is it exactly you do in the Health Service btw?

I suppose the important bit is whether there has been any change in the way death certs' has changed since the pandemic and apart from changes to whom can complete it the method remains the same afaik

Back on topic - I guess the club can facilitate the number of season ticket holders in the ground even with current restrictions so it then comes down to personal choice and circumstances

I haven't had a season ticket for several years now - but for this coming season I am persuaded to get one.

For me the Wellen's appointment is the principal driver - we have someone who understands how midfields work. The club are pandering to the folks who were enthused about the SOD era - and I am proud to say that includes me.

The club need to survive and for that they need supporters. If they have to continue with the iplayer for a while then so be it.

For the first time in 15 years I won’t be renewing my season ticket. A change of circumstances means I can no longer make all the midweek games. If they did a Saturday Games only ticket I would get one but I doubt they would.

Multi-tickets. 5, 10 or 15 games I think with pro rata discount to use as you wish.

We brought it in a while ago as we know some people can't make every game due to work etc etc.

Also the membership card (Bronze?) Which you buy and get a discount on each ticket you purchase.

Not often I agree with you, but makes me laugh how many people have become amateur epidemiologists.

The reality is that even as the announcement about the roadmap and dates was being made, and before the delta variant, the SPI-m (SAGE modelling sub-committee) was projecting another wave this summer. In order to halt transmission we need 80% of the population to be immune (either had it or the jab), but even if 80% of over 18’s are in this position it’s less than 70% of the total population. We are stuck with this for sometime and quite frankly the Government and all of us are just guessing and hoping we don’t get another worse variant. Best thing we can do is plan for the worst and hope for the best.

So your previous post was a quote ?
I’ve never professed to be anything like a virologist or epidemiologist

Are you looking to have an argument with yourself?

My point was no one knows…I concluded no one knows and said we are mostly guessing? I’m not sure why you think any of that is expert comment?

The EFL are planning a return to full stadiums at the start of next season, in fact they've stated that its the number one item in their in-tray.

As for scenarios there are just a few;

1) There is no nationwide 3rd wave and we all start attending the Keepmoat as normal.

2) Covid cases rise and we revert to the 2 metre rule, in which case we attend the Keepmoat and utilise the away end and spread out a bit more.

3) There's a 3rd wave and we go into lockdown again. Highly unlikely but we revert to iFollow for a short while before reverting to scenario 2.

My personal opinion is that scenario 3 will never happen. How can it? But if we don't buy season tickets on the basis that scenario 3 does happen then we'd be looking at an industry that will be decimated. There are a number of clubs who are on the precipice right now, and I cannot see the EFL or anybody letting that happen if there's a good chance we can get back in stadiums.

SM
I'm wondering why you are so convinced that a third wave isn't going to happen, when that is the central prediction of many leading epidemiologists.  Currently, new cases are doubling every ten days or so. Do the maths and see where that puts us by late July.

Cases rising at that rate clearly show that we aren't remotely close the Herd Immunity yet.

It's possible (and dear God I hope this is right) that new hospital admissions don't rise as quickly over the next month as infections do. But literally no-one knows whether they will or not. If they do, we're in for another shocker of a Summer and Autumn.

So I really don't see how you can possibly just say scenario 3 is highly unlikely. At the very least it is a distinct possibility.

I’m buying tomorrow, but I’m lucky to be in a position where I can take the risk.

I'll be buying one this week.
I'm lucky that I can afford the risk.
Should it get cancelled I will save the petrol money to get to the game and back which is as much or more than a ticket. It's not the same watching or listening on ifollow but hopefully we are keeping our club alive.

In view of all the eminent Viking statisticians on the off-topic page offering pessimistic views on the COVID outcome, should we think twice about buying a season ticket to watch our mighty team next season?

Covid: Lockdown easing in England to be delayed by four weeks

One has to learn the difference between personal opinion and fact I guess.

The incentives being offered does not give anything back worthy of paying for it now . The club is only giving 50% back over 5 years at £40 off at each renewal. So what happens to early bird discounts ??
