Always think we miss a trick not having new Rovers stuff out in time for Fathers Day.
Any news on the kit now we have (some) players to put in it

Those who work in manufacturing will know the trials and tribulations facing the industry at the moment. Getting anything made and shipped around the globe is an actual nightmare.

But we did make Fathers Day the year before last, it didn't make the slightest bit of difference to sales at that point, and cost quite a bit in terms of prioritising at the factory and having to fly the product in instead of shipping it.

Cheers Martin interesting that it made no difference to sales. Totally appreciate current logistical problems.

Would it have made a difference if they had concentrated on getting rovers themed pants and socks manufactured?

Yes they could but it would be a lot more expensive. Just look at any sports shirt, golf polo shirt etc and you will see most are made in Vietnam or some other Far East country.

They could make it in the UK...

I work for a huge manufacturing company, and whilst most is made in the uk, raw materials rarely come form the UK, and not just for pricing reasons. Packaging has also be a big issue.

If we want to be self sufficient, the UK has to stop being the penny pinchers we are.

Boohoo do cheap, fast fashion and get their stuff run up in Leicester,  so I wouldn't say it's impossible to manufacture in the UK.

Mind you, it turns out the working conditions weren't great in Leicester. I doubt they are hardly anywhere in the rag trade though.

Adidas and Hummel manufacture fabric for football kits from recycled pop bottles now, for environmental reasons.

I imagine that could happen in the UK.

Really? Do you think the likes of M&S etc would be happy that their clothing is manufactured in a sweatshop?

Remember when that garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed, killing a thousand and more?

Working conditions weren't very good there. They were making clothing for high street British brands, like Primark.

Forest Green make their shirts from Bamboo and this season you have the option of an e-shirt, a completely digital kit you can use on social media

I didn't know this but just Googling it now, it appears FGR are going a stage further.

Their next kit is going to be made from waste coffee grounds and old pop bottles. Apparently it makes a better fabric.

Mind you, the most environmentally friendly thing they could do, regarding football kits is not change them both every single season.

Clubs won't do that unilaterally. The league could bring in a rule that they go back to only changing either the home or away kit each season.

Why would anyone want the e-shirt thing, never mind pay for it?

I rang a few days ago. Now the club are usually very helpful. But on this occasion the lady said, I don't know. Keep looking at the club website.
