For accuracy, the documents were Secret rather than Top Secret. And to be fair, the Govt can't stop what looks like rank incompetence by a civil servant.

They can't stop it, but they do carry the responsibility. Unless you're Boris & co.

Yep, they do, technically. But not morally. I wouldn't say this was a personal failing of the Secretary of State or the Tory party.

Yes clearly the defense secretary should resign because an official made a mistake.

It was a failing of systems.

How can a bunch of 'Secret' documents end up behind a bustop - with no-one noticing they were missing? What else has gone that wasn't handed in to the BBC?

How can the Secretary of State for Health have a covert CCTV camera placed secretly in his office inside a smoke detector - and then video from that camera find its way to the national press? How many others are there, how put them there and who monitors them?

It's a failure of systems? Or it's a form of government on behalf of other people and powers than the one that people think they elected.

That's the Constitutional position, yes.

Wilts, wait until the covert behind the bus shelter video comes out showing the person who left the documents kissing a known Russian spy.
