Laughing stock of Yorkshire right now I’m afraid

It could be worse. How about moving into a new stadium with high hopes of promotion from the National League North and ambitions of an eventual return to the football league.

And being bottom with no points and a goal difference of -6 after three games.

York City. The capital of Yorkshire at that.

On Radio Sheffied Ronnie Moore was complimenting Rovers on how good the movement was. Rovers looked the better side for long spells of the Wednesday game.

It may not be clicking yet but it can't be all bad.

Yes, it can. We’ve just gone away to our biggest rivals and played 2 full backs upfront. How’s that right?

But we can only play the players we have whether supporters like it or not. We can only hope by the end of September thinks will change.

Amazing how things can change over time. 5 of the top 7 are no longer in the league - 2 of those 5 went bust and have been reformed. Of the bottom 5 - 3 are now in the Championship and 1 in the Premier League

Perspective is all. Sadly, youth does not possess the experience and knowledge to apply it. Hence the idiocies we are forced to see on so many threads these days.

I know plenty of folk on here are grateful that we still have a club to support. I know I am. Footy in the Conference was fun. I might regret relegation but it really wouldn't bother me if we ended up back there. At least the owners continue to make sure we have a club to support whatever league we are in. Unlike the last but one owner.... Existance is the number one priority. It is lost so easily as the tables above demonstrate so clearly. What league we are in ain't a whole big deal. And if we did get relegated it would simply mean an easier chance of a promotion campaign... We'd all enjoy that.

With experience it's easier to understand that to appreciate succes you need to deal with failure. Perhaps lots of failure. Football is a journey.

Every game has its own narrative.

I can tell you now, I'd much rather watch the struggles of a smaller club than follow f**king Real Madrid or Barcelona and expect to win almost everything all the time. That is shallow and boring.

By my count 15 of the teams in that table, including the entire top 7,  have been in the Conference (or lower) in the years since 1998/9.

Likewise, 8 of the teams in that table have been up as high as the Championship and 3 of them even into the Premiership in the 22 years since that table was current. Nothing is for ever. The far too vocal kids on here seem unable to understand that. Lol. My Mother used to insist that "children should be seen and not heard". "Don't speak unless you are spoken to" was drummed into me for years and years through my childhood. It seems to have gone out of fashion..... !

Oh b*llocks!! We're bloody relegated then. Shit, shit, shit! Piss poor Rovers... What a strange world it is that we live in these days.

Bob, I respect you because you’ve been through the hard yards, but when you are spending £1000s a year watching that shite you know it’s bad

Ok. Fair enough Colin. I accept that the team didn't play well. It's bloody frustrating. But I find the cotinuous pointless bleats of some posters equally so. Comments on performance are fine. Tyey are newsworthy and relevant. But i'm sure you know to what I am referring!

Cheers!

I know this will sound familiar, but if we are to improve through the season and expect a mid-table finish, this is exactly where we should expect to be at the moment.

I can see this from both sides. I don’t support Doncaster Rovers because I need to see a team win every week, and I’ve long been of the opinion that you have the same good times regardless of the division you play in. If we were to get relegated, of course it’s not the end of the world.

However, it is very frustrating watching a game like yesterday’s play out, and I understand some of the reaction. You can roll out all the cliches about just another game, but Rotherham isn’t just another game for either side. Historically it’s been bigger than that for both teams so you have to understand the disappointment when we can’t compete with our closest rival.

We probably fielded the best team we could yesterday (you could argue for Bogle starting but we know why he didn’t). The absence of a focal point is really costing us, you can see the belief drain away when we get the ball into good positions. On the whole I thought the fans tried hard to lift the team yesterday, but it’s so obvious what we are missing in the final third.

Take away the pragmatism and the perspective, this is football and it’s an emotional game. You’ve got to understand why people get upset. Does that mean we should ‘sack the board?’ Of course not, that’s always been a brainless shout. But I understand why fans are frustrated that we haven’t got what we need, as it’s so glaringly obvious, and it’s costing us.

Colin has a very valid point and also it is also the case that anyone posting anything negative concerning the club is jumped on straight away by certain posters acting like members of a cult who believe they are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong to do so. Many of whom don't attend many if any games each season.
