I'm guessing there maybe some minor mitigation for Gove here. He clearly wasn't the only obnoxious Kitson in the room. He was just one obnoxious Kitson playing for laughs to an audience of obnoxious Kitsons.

That clip, and the fact that the obnoxious Kitson in question became one of the most powerful people in the Tory party tells you everything that is wrong about our politics today.

Imagine if Corbyn,Brown,Milliband,Foot or Kinnock has said something similar about treating the south in the same way.
There would have been page after page reporting it for years.
The letters pages in the Mail and Express would have been fun to read though.
