Quote from: River Don on October 08, 2021, 03:42:56 pmBlack Bank was an area near the new stadium. When it was first suggested people seemed to like, though quite a few joked when have Rovers ever been in the black at the bank?If anything, it should be the Lady Bank Stadium.

Demolished in 1926 apparently.
Quote from: Janso on October 09, 2021, 11:46:17 amDemolished in 1926 apparently.Walk down the river from the Toll house 300 yards down look up and you will see the Balustades which are all that remains of the HallAh. Probably why i don't remember it then. Cheers Janso. Thought it was that big house on the bend from Cusworth to High Melton but obviously not.
Where is Sprotborough Hall? I grew up in Cusworth in the 80's / 90's and can't remember where Sproggy Hall is?

Scawsby Stevw would have been the Gamekeeper sha&&ing the lady of the house

Remember that. We used to hang around there as teens in the early 90's having walked through Cussy park, under the A1 underpass, through the fields to what was then Shire Stores on the corner. They were the only place that would serve schoolkids with booze. Other than Sunnyfields Stores in Scawsby, depending who was serving. Always was reminded of those God awful fags without filters we sometimes smoked as kids too. I think they were called Park Drive so sticks in the memory. This is turning into the reminiscing thread.

Not sure why it can’t be called for example the ‘Eco Power Black Bank Stadium’ then when the sponsor changes just put that in front of Black Bank, we would have some permanency then. I’m sure that’s what Rotherham’s has, sponsor name then New York Stadium.

Our stadium is known as the Aeseal New York Stadium.Just for interest (accepting there'll be little interest on a Donny site for the Millers) the stadium is simply named after the area it is built on, namely the New York area of Rotherham. It was known as that on Victorian Ordnance Survey maps. The name comes from our county town - the city of York. It's nothing to do with the Big Apple in America.

It has been promoted to the full status of a letter in some languages, including Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Faroese. It was also used in Old Swedish before being changed to ä
