FA Youth Cup

https://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/news/2021/november/report--basford-u18s-rovers-u18s/

Brilliant performance on Friday night by Rovers Under-18s , who won 2-1 at Basford in the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup. (Link to report above).

Rovers will be at Home to Rotherham United in Round 2. The game will probably be on 16th or 17th November at the Keepmoat.

It would be great if we could get a couple of thousand crowd to watch the youngsters,  two of whom were on the first team bench yesterday.

Do you or any one know is the Nesbitt that plays in the U18s any relation to Micky Nesbitt we had in the 80’s?

Great write up Red Baron. Very comprehensive.

Don’t watch Emmerdale only Corrie and that is not on Tuesdays!!!

No seriously though even if match is on Wednesday I will get down to cheer them on.
Winning is a habit and if the youth team are doing well it can often be a lift for the 1st team. Feel good factor is a massive part of a football club.
Success breeds success.

The game v Rotherham will be a clash of very different styles, the Rotherham team being recruited with the film the Land of Giants in mind, are very route 1, Physical, and have a tactic of every throw in near the half way line will be launched into the box with a massive throw and fight for the second ball, at least that is how the game went against them a couple of weeks ago, when we dealt with it, the back four with Faulkner and Wilds fighting fire with fire the team coming out on top with good football with rapper and Hollings creating the opportunities.
It will be feisty and a hard game, with not a lot between the two teams if we match the physical battle which we slowly seem to be coming to terms with we are more than capable of getting the win everyone at the club wants.
As others have said get down to the game and give the lads your support and enjoy the game, it will be worth while and the standard of football is good.

Where do you think they will play the game Selby Keepmoat pitch on training facilities, Main Stadium or Cantley training ground.

Think all FA youth cup games are played in the eve, so Keepmoat it will be Steve. 99% sure.

The Keepmoat Stadium, the first time any of the lads have played actually in the stadium, like the first team being drawn away for a couple of years at least. The released second year scholar's last season never played a home game there due to Covid and away draws at Coventry Phoenix, and Peterborough United where they were unlucky to lose a very close game.

The game looks like being played next Tuesday 16th at the Keepmoat Rotherham have cancelled their weekend game to concentrate on this game so really taking it seriously.
So lots on it for both sides we will really have to be on it and stand up to the physical challenge that will come with them, and is a big part of how they play.
Get down to the game give the lads the backing they need and enjoy the game.

With Jones, Horton, Hasani, and Blythe and the youth players Kuleya, Hollings, and Goodman we had seven past and present academy players taking in some part of the play and with the unused substitutes a total of twelve players in the squad coming through the academy system  being involved in a Doncaster Rovers competitive cup game, which we won. probably one for Dutch to add to his historical stats, and something the academy staff and players can be very proud of, and highlights the good work that is going on, and credit to Richie Wellens for having the guts to give our own youth a go.
