Good question BVB but you must remember that when covid was at its height and the NHS as struggling to cope there were a few prominent posters on here telling us all that it was the governments fault.
So, following that logic surely the government should be praised for the success of the vaccine programme.

Just wondering but my Mum had a booster at the beginning of October... Getting on to three months ago now.

So how long before the booster begins to wane?

The vast majority of the over 80s will be in this position now with another three months to see winter out.

To keep antibody evels high are they going to have to start boosting the booster in January?

going off the other jabs you would guess at 5 to 6 months then I would think you will needed a 2nd booster

Well Hound, I could bang on about how the govt was woefully unprepared for a pandemic, and that the NHS was struggling to cope as a result of both that and woeful underfunding for the last 11 years of this party in power, leading to a big shortage of doctors, nurses and resources, and when the pandemic hit they were late to the party (hey see what I did there?) and caught with their pants down in panic mode and by which time thousands had died unneccessarily yet they went on national TV to brag and lie about how brilliant they were in addressing the “issues”…..

..…but I’ve had a beer and can’t be arsed.
Cheers

Hopefully.

I was just going on them opening up boosters to the younger adult age groups after a minimum of 3 months.

Yep, I get that BVB.
However I haven’t  noticed you say that the fabulous success of the booster programme is testament to the government, even when you hadn’t had a beer.

Because it isn’t - it’s despite the
Government.
It’s a testament to those who’ve implemented it.

Go on then Hound.
Prove your point and I’ll believe you.
Otherwise even though I disagree on other points I’m with Nudga and his views on the govt.

Hound, anyone who thinks the government should get no credit for the vaccine output deserves to be ignored. Nobody in their right mind takes such opinions seriously anyway.

But more lockdowns are going to fall on deaf ears.

People have had enough.
So every time we get a new variant we are going back to square 1 are we.
No we just need to get on with life as normal.
The economy cannot cope with any more, peoples mental health cannot cope with any more.

Get a jab if you have not already. That is the answer. Jab every 6 months.
No big deal is it. Protect yourself and protect others. Simple.

If we have continual restrictions then where is the incentive to go and get repeat jabs.

We just need to live with this same as flu. Same as other virus.

Any more of this nonsense of shutting the country down is going to create anarchy. We will get rioting before too long i fear.
Yes it will get that bad.

We need some serious leadership from Boris.
What we need is Maggy to make a come back because we need her decisive leadership right now.

As for the opposition well they would be even worse. More dilly dallying than we are getting from this lot. Starmer is like a wet rag and some of his cronies are worse.

Yes as Al said we do need some proper leadership in this country, but we do not need far right Hitler types. God help us all.

Israelis are starting a program of second booster jabs. The Germans are also considering a 4fh jab.

A possible 4th jab must be on the agenda here too.

That is simply common sense. Repeat repeat and repeat until it is eliminated if it ever is. Possibly never will be same as flu.
So what’s the problem vaccinate and keep doing it.  There needs to be a massive public information programme introduced to ram this down peoples throats imo.
We have had it for smoking cigarettes, we need the same level of public awareness in how to protect the population from getting very ill from Covid.

But if we keep locking down hospitality and events and Sport then people will say why bother.

We all had these for Polio, Diptheria etc as kids in th late 50’s early 60’s.

I'm sure you didn't have 3 or 4 jabs of hope in a year for polio and diphtheria.

Some diabetics have 1 or 2 jabs of hope in a day. does that mean the jabs aren't working?

What about those who haven't  got two stomachs? Is it a government conspiracy for the skinny diabetics? And, fat or thin, does that mean the jabs aren't working just because they need them regularly?

Agree - The more people vaccined, and the more the virus mutates, the lesser the impact over time, until it becomes a yearly thing like flu jab, modified to target latest versions etc.

Slight disagree - even this govt can’t take chances on not preparing for the worst whilst hoping for the best - looking promising on a weaker omicron but data still in flux - can always knock back restrictions if it proves less severe - would be disaster for the population of it went the other way and we are not prepared.

By all means do down the opposition (be prepared to provide some reasoned analysis first though)  - but expecting serious leadership from The Clown?
Good luck with that Campsall!
