Decision within 2 weeks. Hopefully Warnock!!
Please if only until the end of the season.

But seriously can you see him taking it. He would want a serious salary. It is not going to happen.

From the BBC website:

“Wellens asked to succeed in 'impossible job' “

Some not particularly pleasant comments in ‘The Conversation.’

Giddings always has a downer on Rovers

Maybe, but what he said isn’t wrong.

Whoever we get, no doubt the board will be accused of going for the cheap option. Many of the applicants are likely to be men who have been sacked - that didn’t work out too well on the last occasion we opted for one of those did it? We will not be inundated with big name applicants and we as supporters need to realise that.

Only asking, Filo, but any idea why that should be?

Poisoned chalice I'm afraid. No money, no ambition, leadership or direction. Mike Bassett would turn it down.

Retirement is calling for Warnock.

It would be fun if he fancied the challenge of keeping the Rovers up but realistically, I doubt he'd be interested in it.

But why should that be a problem with Giddings?

We need a good man manager. Someone who can lift the players.

This lot are. Rock bottom at the moment. They need lifting.

I think (unlike last time) the board have someone in mind. Logic being that Gerrard was let go just 48hrs ago, now Wellens, Hunt will be next. Meaning we have no full time senior staff.

I'm guessing we have someone lined up with an assistant manager, and GK coach too (possibly a set piece coach) we saw an article the other day that we even had a yoga instructor joining the set up???

All this maybe pre-set or scrapped.

Maybe Gerrard could come back in who knows? But even our board can't be inept enough to sack/mutually agree to let Gerrard leave and bring him back straight after sacking Richie can they? I mean nothing against PG by this but surely letting him go was in huge consideration

Michael Flynn did a great job at Newport on a restricted budget.

Knows the lower league game well, and a good motivator....look no further!

They don’t have anyone in mind,

If they did they wouldn’t be waiting two weeks to appoint him

Yep, it'd be great to have a manager who can do no wrong instead of one who could do no right. Thing is, who would we blame if Warnock took us down?

I feel we’ll have to change the narrative from wanting to regain our identity if we want to retain any credibility.

You can plan to regain your identity if, following recruitment of a leader, you’re able to commit money or time. I get that we can’t throw money about, and I’m not on the Board’s case with that. But we spoke (correctly) of giving time and several transfer windows. Wellens had one window, during which a combination of poor planning, poor recruitment (and Wellens can shoulder some of the blame there), bad luck and outright ineptitude meant that we weren’t really anywhere near where we needed to be when the window shut. Throw in an appalling injury list and Wellens has ended up being the fall guy for it all.

Yes, he signed some apparent duds. But every other manager we’ve had in my time has also signed some duds. What bailed them out was a combination of money to bring in better players and / or the inheritance of some quality around them. Again, Wellens got neither of the above. We were always going to end up in this situation eventually after years of depleting the core of the squad and plugging gaps with temporary fixes. That’s exactly why we spoke of the need to regain our identity, but were they just words?

I’m not daft, I know Wellens is far from perfect and he can be an abrasive character. But there seems to have been very little accounting for the circumstances he inherited and had to deal with. This saw Moore’s team capitulate towards the end of his reign, Butler fail to turn it around and now Wellens too. Wellens isn’t a mug, you only have to look at the football his previous teams played to know he’s not clueless. Is the problem the last three managers, or is the problem deeper than that?

Unless the next manager gets money and / or time (from Board and supporters) we’ll only wind up back here again in a couple of months.

Fans pinning their hopes on the renaissance of Ed Williams and Omar Bogle are only showing themselves to have been pointing blame without wider thought. That’s a truly hopeless case.

The next move will be very interesting, the narrative around it equally so. But the proof will be in the actions not the words.

Darren Moore. It’s all his bloody fault. He started the rot. Got to think of someone to blame.

He certainly has a lot to answer for though being serious.

Nigel Clough could be realistic.

Players would love that, 5 holidays a season.

?? Am i missing something?

He leaves a portion of the budget behind to take his squads on regular holidays to Dubai, Spain etc. He believes it builds team spirit.

It's talked about regularly on the 'under the cosh' podcast.
Be Filey & Brid on our budget surely?!

Nothing wrong with Filey and Brid.

You will find few beaches better than Filey.

And with modern summer weather, the only problem is it getting too crowded.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If the fat bloated toad Evans came anywhere near my club, I’d hang my scarf up until such time as he left.

It's over egged, and it's his opinion that it's an impossible job.

And the “brown room” is the best chippy in England
