Quote from: ColinDouglasHandshake on January 29, 2022, 10:39:47 pmI know. Back in the 90's i knew our village bobbys in Scawsby by name, and they knew me. One even rode a cycle around and lived on our street. Even though a lot of us were scallies, we still had respect for the local plods. These days i have no respect for the police whatsoever. Fair shout this. As a kid in scawsby back then they always came in to school and were about the area.

They might need a baseball bat by the bed too if the burglars came upstairs.

If your gonna have a baseball bat next to your bed make sure you have a baseball too. If it gets messy after you would stand less chance of getting into trouble with the law.

I keep my golf clubs in my bedroom just in case I need a 9 iron in the middle of the night. Here is a little tip for you. Broke in despite the house doors being locked & lifted the keys. Always take the car keys to bedI always leave mine downstairs where they can be easily found - last thing I want is to be woken from my much-needed beauty sleep by a tooled up t**t in my bedroom rummaging for my car keys. It's only a lump of metal at the end of the day and there's a reason we have insurance.

My nearest large town is probably just Chesterfield and it is nowhere like on this scale the amount of violent crime and sexual assaults. This is why when i read the DFP, i am constantly shocked at the frequency of incidents. All towns and cities have their issues but whenever i return to Donny, it is not the same feeling as when i left. It feels a bit more unsafe, oppressive and more unsavoury characters knocking about. When i visit Chesterfield for example or Buxton (admittedly a smaller town) i feel 100% safe. The size of Donny though for a large town cannot be underestimated. I remember when i lived in Scawsby, it seemed to take an age even to drive to the other side of town, say Bessacarr yet when i visit Chesterfield, i'm out of the Peaks and through Chesterfield within a few minutes. Donny always feels traffic riddled and big. Maybe i'm now used to living around small towns and it is more noticable?I'm a Donny lad born and raised until my mid 20's but i am so glad i moved away which is sad. The town looks like it has had lots of investment though so not sure what the issue is with the crime etc.
A shout out to all the councillors regardless of the colours they wear.

I wouldn’t believe everything you read in the Free Press!
