I see Glynn Hodges has joined the coaching team as set piece coach. Great experience to have in there. Things look to be taking shape nicely.

Hodges began coaching at the turn of the millennium working with the Barnsley reserves. He had two spells as caretaker manager before leaving Oakwell due to the club going into administration.

In 2004, the former Welsh international joined the Football Association of Wales as U21s coach linking up with then-Wales manager Mark Hughes for the first time. He subsequently joined up with Hughes again at Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City as reserves manager and later at Fulham as a first team coach.

Hodges also coached at Leeds United, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City before most recently being named manager at AFC Wimbledon in 2019 after a brief period as assistant.

Some excellent experience and exactly the type GMS needs around him. Very impressed with this appointment.

Lots of experience. Maybe he will be GM’s mentor as well as set piece coach.
I am sure he will look to him for advice when needed.

He’s got his work cut out, things about getting the Rovers back on track are starting to fall into place. Things are looking positive for the rest of the season.

That's quite a significant appointment. Could have a real impact as he's one of the scholars of the dark arts from the Bassett days which we've been sadly lacking over many years.

Let's hope we see the evidence of this on the pitch very soon. Could be as significant signing as any of the new players.

I agree the free kicks and corners for Wimbledon and Sheff United in his playing days were renowned.. so bodes well.. ex manager too so will.be an experienced older head in the Boot room so to speak. Could prove a shrewd move.

Has he really got his work cut out or have we already improved out of sight at both attacking and defensive set pieces under Gary and Frank?

The improvement in this area over the last 8 games (too small of a sample to really get excited admittedly) is equivalent to an 11 goal swing over a 46 game season compared to the chances given up/created under the previous regime. This is not just based on actual goals scored/created, it’s based on the quality of chances conceded/created within X amount of time from set pieces being taken.

Joined as set piece coach this is imo a very good appointment because we all know how vital set pieces are both defensively and attacking wise & being ex Wimbledon should know his stuff.
