What position do you want to see TR play next season?

For me he's moved around too much this year. Would love to see him in CM myself failing that LW but not LWB or LB.

Agreed anywhere but left back - he was brilliant at Sunderland playing central midfield alongside Smith - but the question remains does he have his legs to play there all season alongside an ageing Clayton, we need a box to box young midfielder akin to Matt Smith who gets up and down.

I don’t really care which position he plays in as long as he stays with us, which I think is unlikely!  :coat:

Why unlikely?

I’d prefer midfield

He will stay, if he sees ambition to get promoted I would think.

He still has the legs. Very fit player.

Great professional. Assuming we could keep Bostock, and Clayton stays fit we’ve a strong centre mid. I’d play Tommy as a Neil Roberts style number ten, with Reo running off him up top.

Left midfield. Think he's poor CM personally.

I too think Tommy will stay because if anyone wants him they have to pay a fee, something which won’t happen considering his age

Poor is a bit harsh when it comes to his impact in central midfield, but I don’t think it’s his best position either. I’d like to see him in an attacking role coming in from the left. We need to get him in the box and if we do he should guarantee us 10-15 goals.

So if he's on the left...does that mean 4 at the back?

I hope so, I really do, I just think he could easily play in league 1 next season and get a decent pay rise as well. We’ll see, I’d love to see him in a rovers shirt next season, top man & player of the season by a mile imho.

I'd say left on a 4 in midfield would be his best position. If we want to play 433 then he would be one of those 3.

If he is 1st choice to play left back next season it's because we've either assembled the greatest squad in L2 history or we've recruited very poorly and not signed a left back

We could do with two or three more Tommy Rowe’s to put alongside him. One of the few players to come out of last season with some credit. I would like to see him lead us back to league one.

Not left back.

Would like a proper left back of Tommy’s experience and quality, not a young kid on loan.

If we could get a combination of Gareth Roberts tenacious, Tommy Spurrs aerial ability,*McIndoe's engine and Tim Ryans boot then we would have one hell of a left back.

* Not strictly a left back but the best engine on a left footer i've seen in a Rovers shirt.

We all dream of a team of Tommy Rowes’ (to the yellow submarine tune).

He’s Lee Warren but with scoring ability. Mr Dependable in an otherwise in an un dependable team .

He’s played for us in L2 before in 2016/17 when he was arguably at his peak.  No reason why he would leave as he’s under contract and now coming towards the end of his career.
He scored 13 goals from midfield that year and hopefully he will do that again next season.

Midfield or right back with a team in Lg.1 or Championship, after all a Lg.2 club can't afford such players if they are going to be run correctly.

He's excellent 20-30 yards from goal and especially left side. Middle of the pitch not good at all. However I don't expect he'll play centre mid unless we get injuries

Left midfield/left forward for me, he will punish teams playing further forward.

He is a goal threat, so don’t waste him at left back. Get him left side pushed up or just behind the forwards.

Tommy was at the supporters club dinner dance last night and he couldn’t have been more accommodating to the fans. Sometimes I think it’s been hard to get players to attend or to stay around when they do (and that’s understandable as it’s their holiday season) but Tommy stayed for hours chatting and having photos with supporters young and old. He spoke well and is clearly determined to put things right next season.

He’s a great ambassador for the club and he’s going nowhere.

I echo every word of that, we were there and he was an absolute credit to himself and the club. Articulate and humble and as Jonathan says spent the entire evening with the fans in a really genuine and interested way. Rovers legend in the making there. Great guy.

Just to add the event itself was brilliant, big thanks to all who organised.
