Some very sad News
« on May 14, 2022, 09:28:12 am by Campsall rover »
To all those who new Tony Elder from Askern, very sad news is that he very suddenly passed away while on holiday in Crete on Thursday. He was 74yrs old.

I have been going to Rovers matches with Tony since 1980

He has been one of the Clubs most avid and loyal supporters ever since he first started going to Belle Vue in the 1950’s

It won’t be the same without him being present at matches.

R.I.P Tony.

It's always sad to lose one of our Rovers family, especially one who has been a loyal fan for such a long time. I'm 74 in October so shared his Rovers ups and downs.
I can't place him but must probably have  know him by sight and maybe even spoken to him at some stage.
RIP Tony.

A great loss to family friends and The Rovers. Quite a sportsman  himself when younger playing both football and Rugby and in later years a crown green bowler with both Askern and Bentley bowling clubs.
R.I.P old friend you will be sadly missed by both family and friends especially in the community  of Askern, Norton, and Campsall.

That's a great shock. I didn't know the bloke for long or very well but he was an amusing, likeable character.

I just renewed my season ticket last week and was wondering if everyone else in our section of the West stand would be daft enough to do the same after the disastrous season we've just had. It never entered my head that one of us wouldn't be coming back because of such sad circumstances as in poor old Tony's case.

RIP Tony.

We all had renewed our season tickets including Tony BB
Don’t think it ever crossed our minds not to, even after an awful season.
What else do you do on a Saturday afternoon or Tues eve between August and May.  It’s in the DNA

Campsall.  I'm so sorry to read this, that's a real kick in the gut as he was such a lovely bloke.
Watching Rovers last season was bloody hard work, but coming to games is much more bearable when your surrounded by decent people, and Tony was definitely in that category. He often said he'd seen some real dross over the years, including last season, but I never heard him being anything other than positive. His love for Rovers shone through and I will miss that.

My heartfelt condolences to yourself his family and friends.

RIP Tony
