Tomlin needs to be made to train with the u9's.

First game of the season, if you can’t win it, don’t lose it and that’s what the team has done today. Plenty of fight, football aware with the time wasting, we complain bitterly when it’s against us, but I’m happy we’ve done it today.

Onwards and upwards

Harratt sent off for apparently clipping Mitchell round the head at full time.

That was an insane couple of hours…

Pick the bones out of that lot.

Firstly, well done Rovers.

Truly some fight and spirit to grind out that one after being left right in the sh*t by Tomlin, who needs to take a long look at himself after those few moments of madness. Petulant to not retreat. When that free kick was given he sarcastically applauded the ref, as Tom Biltcliffe noted on commentary. I think the red mist came down and he refused to retreat. Yellow card. Then he kicks the ball away which should have been the red, or maybe was… Then the Bradford player comes in, gives him a little dig in the kidney and steps on his foot. Ref misses that but Tomlin goes down like he’s been shot. Embarrassing really. Utterly embarrassing. Be interesting to see GMc’s comments on that. He’s got talent but we don’t need those antics. Somebody mentioned Gazza - definitely a similar mental element there.

Second half… total backs to the wall stuff. Could have nicked it with a header from Oluwu and a smart save.

It’s refreshing to see some mettle and a willingness to be a bit nasty when needed. We’re going to need that this season, and we’ve seen do many teams do that to us.

To say that a few young players had to be blooded there, a fine well earned point.

And I don’t think Ravenhill’s challenge was bad at all, watching it over. One of those things that happen in games. But the reaction of the crowd and the Bradford players, McSheffrey was correct to sub him. Ref would have been under intense pressure to red card him for the slightest further infringement.

A baptism of fire for that referee, for sure.

I think a few more Bradford players could have been booked too. He missed some aggressive stuff. Mitchell getting booked was crazy - given that the Bradford player was basically assaulting him to get the ball back.

And then a red at the end for Harratt hitting Mitchell at the final whistle.

Insane game.

Great point. We’re not a soft touch this season.

Stupid from Tomlin, but that's a referee determined to send somebody off after cocking one up earlier.

Can’t fault the ref having seen that.  It’s a second yellow anyway for immediately kicking the ball away having already been carded.

What a stupid Kitson..

He’s got a lot of making up to do.

A bit embarrassing from Tomlin but probably the softest red card you'll ever see. If you're going to send Tomlin off you should send the Bradford player off for violent conduct if you're going to the letter of the law. The Bradford player has conned the ref.
