Wimbledon's no.10

Ayoub Assal - The most impressed I've been with an opposition player for a long time, he was outstanding and pretty much unplayable in the second half, we had to foul him to stop him. It looked like his quality in the final third was gonna be the difference today, as we just didn't have anyone with that same spark in the final third. However if Molyneux/Close/Taylor can add that to the generally decent performance today, we might be onto something.

He had been quality every time we’ve played them. Would love him at Rovers. I think Kuleya for us could have those same qualities… He’s got something there. Compact, quick thinking, tricky.

19 looked a great player. On loan from Brentford I think.

I liked Assal in both games against them last season. Would take him here if we go up and they stay down

Apologies to anyone near me Saturday as I seemed to mumble " oh no don't let HIM have it " every time he got the ball lol

He would cost best part of a million quid. Not really one that’s under the radar.

Looked a real talent. Had a Mahrez vibe about him imo. One to watch for sure!

I've always had the impression that as a club and a lowly northern based one at that, we are never really on the radar for a majority of London and South East based players, bar a couple of exceptions over the years.

Had our fair share of decent Northern loan players though!

Swings & roundabouts.

No one said he was.

it seems he was "cloaked" last season
lest we forget he played in nearly every game last season

remember this thread the length of "war and peace"

https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/revealed-club-that-dons-attacking-star-ayoub-assal-is-set-to-join/

“The South London Press can reveal that AFC Wimbledon’s Ayoub Assal is in advanced negotiations with Qatar Stars League side Al-Wakrah.

Al-Wakrah – managed by former Espanyol boss Tintin Marquez – are third in the league table and seven points off table-toppers Al-Arabi. They recently signed former Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest midfielder Adlene Guedioura.

Our paper understands that the Dons will receive north of £1million – a club record in the AFC Wimbledon era – after the 20-year-old’s buy-out clause was triggered on Wednesday.”

I bet he’s on ‘daft money’ too. Good luck to him & his bank balance.

Zero income tax in Qatar and their VAT rate is 5pc, which is very significantly below UK rate of 20pc. It’s financially a great place to play football. Host of other reasons why it’s not a great footballing or ethical move.

Well we know what our target is   I am very worried about Wimbledon (much much improved) and were beating Plymouth (dont know how strong the Plymouth team was ) 3-0 before losing on penalties   midweek now unbeaten in 8 (but found a way to lose to Chessie in the F A Cup)

and they appeared to have a world beater when we lost (?) to them

time will tell (as usual)

hopefully the message will not "self destruct in 90 minutes"

our man from uncle is "Dutch Uncle"

in view of my post above  on December 26th   ---- I assume the world beater mentioned above is the one "sold"

the big issue now is will Wimbledon's form "self-destruct"
