Please read my above post with my positive (by my standards) comments about the Queen. Then go away. You clearly have a problem with misunderstanding posts.

No you clearly have a problem with modern life.

The sooner you are banned from this forum the better.

Err well yeah. I'm autistic. What else would you expect?

As said on another thread, that doesn’t excuse your ignorance!

There isn't one.

There is Billy as soon as the King or Queen passes the title immediately passed to the next in line irrelevant of waiting for the Coronation Hence the Royal Standard is never flown at half mast   "The Queen is dead Long live the King "

No. There isn't.

There hasn't been a King of England since the 1600s.

Correction. Since 1702.
You really shouldn’t be using this sad day to force your superior intellect on those who just want to remember, reflect and look to the future.

Yeah but which country were I and II the kings of?

Watch QI, it explained what will happen. And why the next King James will be James VIII.

It's not ignorance. It is a difference in thinking from the mainstream / norm. Doesn't make it wrong. It isn't my fault if i speak my mind and others find it offensive. I've had enough of treading on eggshells in life to appease others. If you don't like my views then tough. I'm not ashamed of the way i think.

It’s good that you are not ashamed of how you think, and don’t want to appease those you offend. With that in mind, perhaps you could stop reminding anyone who challenges you that you are autistic.

You need to be on the desktop version. View the poster's profile. The Ignore option is on the left hand side. I strongly recommend it.

I used to love reading Off Topic, there was some good subjects. But now everything that is wrote no matter what subject it is turned quickly off the the original intent and in to a toxic back biting fight amongst the contributors!!
Regardless if your Royalist or not, can you not simply put this to one side and show some respect for a Woman that has done a remarkable job not only for the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, but across the entire world.
Even out here in the Middle East the impact is felt. The whole GCC will spend the next 3 days in mourning of her passing.

Still have my Silver Jubilee coin that we were all given at school in 1977. 45 years ago.

Somebody on MSNBC over here commented earlier that the passing of the Queen is like the real end of the 20th Century, and I think that captures it well. The end of a reign of a strong woman, a steady hand at the tiller, of dignity, tempered with humour and humility.

I don’t believe that anyone has a divine right to rule, or be seen as better than anyone else on account of their birth or how their ancestors may have ascended to power. However, I feel a sense of great loss and sadness. It’s quite surreal. I liked Elizabeth a lot. There was something about her generation, and I think about my grandparents here too, that it feels like we’ve lost something much, much greater than simply a Queen.

I’m about as anti royal a person you will find, however I think yesterday was a day for having some respect, even if the maximum respect you can show is politely declining to comment on the matter, we are all capable of that. However today is a new day and I think out of this passing there needs to be a very serious discussion about a potential ‘royal referendum’ and let the people of Britain decide whether we continue to worship the idea of a monarchy. For my money it isn’t fair that one child grows up on a golden seat with every opportunity financially available, will grow up travelling the world and will never really have to break a sweat before literally taking the throne he was born to take, whilst another child can’t eat at school because his mum can’t afford it purely because one was born in Windsor and the other was born in Wickersley.

Mustapha.

Many people are anti royal I for one am not.   I think they promote the country and it isn’t a job I’d want although it obviously has a lot of entitlements

I read your view and working on your theory of inherited entitlement are you saying that the all children of multi millionaires / billionaires shouldn’t inherit. For example The children of Richard Branson or Lord Sugar and others. Or is your view purely aimed at the Royals.

Why differentiate. All their children inherit fortunes whilst the average people don’t have this luck

Difference is Sugar started with nowt selling second hand radios on Hackney Market and his family benefited from that through sheer hard graft , determination and I dare say luck .

A royal bloodline isn't quite the same thing in my opinion .

I share the view of MD ... and it is time (well will be when respectful) for us as a Nation to have "the conversation"

POL is right in what he says . Accumulated wealth is obviously allowed to be passed to the next generation in the same way as my assets "one house" and a bit of cash will pass to someone eventually

Tyke is right too and it's the thing that I most object to the Royal Family for ( as an institution ) A Royal Bloodline isnt the same thing .

RIP Elizabeth the Second and long live King Charles

Referendum would probably be 50 50 anyway

At a time like this, while so much nostalgia is being evoked, not just for The Queen but as people think of past relatives who respected or followed news of the The Queen. I think if there were any referendum on Monarchy, now, it would be a landslide in support.

The monarchy is good for tourism, so good for the economy. Voting for the end of that would likely be similar but a lesser scale to voting Brexit.

I think these days head of state is more suited to a female, I think back to my Mum and Nan always talking about what the Queen was wearing.

It's about soft power, representing the nicer side of the nation without grubby politics in the way. Having a King will be odd, though I think this one being so aged is only going to be a caretaker. A memory of his mother.

I suspect Camilla will come much more to the fore, though the press will continue to zero in on Kate no doubt.

I also suspect the real question marks over the Monarchy will appear when Charles goes and the baton is meant to pass to the much more informal, celebrity royals.

Phil, I take your view and respect your beliefs, you’re as entitled to them as I am to mine. I don’t think inherited entitled so to say and plain inheritance are the same, as Wolfie alludes to.
If somebody works hard all their life or even if they don’t for that matter if they are skilled enough to build an estate worth leaving then they have a right to leave that estate wherever they see fit. This isn’t like that, and the reason for my dislike is that the family are the physical embodiment of class divide, a visual representation of some people have wealth and some people don’t, but to a completely unnecessary degree. I also shadow what River Don has said that if there was a vote right here right now it would indeed be a landslide and again despite my own personal views it wouldn’t be respectful to the family to have it now, I think the conversation would need to be more along the line of ‘at the end of x persons reign, should we look to wind down the monarchy’.

The real problem the monarchy has, is the reason I have never been much interested in it.

We are supposed to believe the Monarch is ordained by God. God has chosen this person to look after this country. But in a nation where people increasingly don't believe in God then how can they claim to have a God given right to rule?

I'm sure Elizabeth firmly believed it but Charles? Not so sure but the young royals, I doubt even they believe they have a God given right to rule.

I just heard a really funny line attributed to the Queen.
When she ascended to the throne she was asked if she would be moving into Buckingham Palace and she replied that she would because the Monarch has to live above the shop.

Why are there no reflections in the fireplace mirror, and why are there no shadows cast from the lights at either side?

There are some reflections in the mirror.
The window on the other side of the room and the ceiling light for example.
