The older you get the slower your metabolism becomes, thus making it more difficult to lose weight. Every little bit helps though. Despite exercising most days I’m still about 1.5 stone overweight. This is purely down to my penchant for chocolate and beer!

I've just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, so I'm joining you in the weight loss war.
Since retiring from a very physical job 18 months ago, I've moved much less and drunk more alcohol which leads to eating junk food.
I've set myself a target of a weekly average of 10000 steps a day and also reducing my boozing days to a max of 2 a week.
Unfortunately I'm off to Benidorm tomorrow for a week, so whilst I'll double the daily step target, it'll be 6 nights of medium level beering.
When I get back, I'll try and get into a healthier routine and maintain it.

My 2.5 mile walk in a morning gives me 5k steps on my fitbit watch, which sets you up for the day
We have a few different walks where I live from 4 miles to 6 miles. However, I'm very much a fair weather walker though, so I'm going to have to change that!

Thanks everyone, just got to keep motivated, it’s hard but I just keep forcing myself out of the door for my walk in a morning, and I must admit I feel fitter and brighter than I have for years

That's the bonus. And it'll get better with every pound you lose.

It’s called reset Filo. Your body is adjusting to the new norm. Once it accepts your new weight in theory it will allow you to start losing again rather than trying to maintain your present weight.

Got down to 19st 12lb on 11th Feb, then had an operation on 14th Feb and put 7lb on when I weighed last Saturday, I’m putting it down to water retention at the moment from the swelling and such, we’ll see this Saturday if its come back down, well done on your journey, glad I’ve manged to kick your arse into doing it, keep it up and good luck

Further update this week, it seems my theory is correct, and I’ve lost 6.5lb of that 7lb without doing anything different

How's it going Filo?

I've noticed these last couple of years I've not been able to shift my winter coat as easily as I used to. 46 now  and averaged 15s 3lb.
I topped at 15s 5lb so decided to do something about it.
Stumbled across something on twitter which basically said stop eating food with seed oils in it.
I always thought wholegrain bread was good for you but it's pretty much the same as white bread because of the seed oils. Only bread I have is pitta bread and to my delight crumpets are still on the menu.

Anyway, I've pretty much stopped eating food with seed oils in and I've lost 13lb from my heaviest weight in 3 weeks.
Just thought I'd share, might be useful for someone.

Got to just short of 6st loss and I’m stuck at the moment, but I must admit my regular morning walks have dwindled since a minor op I had in February, I need to get my mojo back on that front, I don’t think age helps either, I’m two weeks from being 60
