Mission Impossible (a.k.a That 7th spot)
« on December 26, 2022, 03:00:51 pm by Colemans Left Hook »
Well we know what our target is   I am very worried about Wimbledon (much much improved) and were beating Plymouth (dont know how strong the Plymouth team was ) 3-0 before losing on penalties   midweek now unbeaten in 8 (but found a way to lose to Chessie in the F A Cup)

and they appeared to have a world beater when we lost (?) to them

time will tell (as usual)

hopefully the message will not "self destruct in 90 minutes"

We have been shocking, apart from the first 3 minutes. Tactically inept bunch of headless chickens in that first half. It’s been dreadful.

Absolutely garbage! What have they been doing the last couple of weeks? We’ve made a poor Tranmere team, look like world beaters.

having found out at 2-40 today that Tranmere hadn't won a match in the last ten

i changed my P & O selection from the rovers of Tranmere  to our Rovers

surely we couldn't do what we did at Hartlepool  earlier (to give them their first HOME win of the season ) end a teams losing run  :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

The result suggests "slaughtered" seems to be a good description.  and on the surface the MISSION is aborted .

Fortunately the other divisional results meant a lot of teams only got one point including the Wombles.

But some of us know boxing results can be very unexpected on a positive note (clutching at straws)

was it Nottingham Forest 1 Doncaster Rovers (marooned at the bottom of the league - sel-isolating from the other clubs ) 3 and the rest of the season was promtion form

then on another Boxing Day we had Peterborough 0 Doncaster Rovers 3 (with 2 long distance shots) when everyone on here expected us to get hammered.

Amazingly we are only 4 points behind Mansfield after promotion bound Northampton quickly equalised a late mansfield goal

THE TABLE THAT "NEVER LIES "SUGGESTS WE ARE ARE NOT THAT BAD

If we could get some decent loan signings then we would still have a chance ( hint Huddersfield is stiil in Yorkshire and we have done well with players/loaness from Villa etc)

so all is not lost

on the downside Swindon are very likely to sign Charlie Austin (back from Australia)  just to make the mission a bit harder.

Some inaccuracies in there, CLH. It was Forest 2 Rovers 4. Also, there was only one of the 3 goals at Peterborough that was a long distance shot.

Forget 7th spot, honestly, just forget it.

We’ll finish 12th with this team imo.

12th in a shocking division.

You can be as ambitious as you like but as a player, if you can’t pass a ball to a team mate..forget it.

As a manager, if you can’t get your players to play ‘as a team’ & be effective on the pitch….forget it.

As a ‘Head of Football Development’, if you can’t ‘scout’ a good manager & find him players good enough to compete….forget it.

As a board of directors, if you can’t have a ‘plan’ that will move the whole club forward & ensure that plan is carried out…forget it.

Things NEED to change.

Surely that’s as plain as the nose on your face.

With today's Parting of the Red (and white !) sea  and "Mission (VERY) Impossible" suddenly looks a go'er

Colchester United 1 Swindon Town 0
Doncaster Rovers 2 Carlisle United 1
Grimsby Town 1 Stockport County 0
Walsall 2 Mansfield Town 1
even Wimbledon losing

and to think in their previous matches we had .....

Swindon winning at Northampton (who might win the title)
Carlisle winning away
Stockport beating Walsall away
Mansfield winning away

the men in white coats suddenly have sad faces and have left Coleman Towers ....

muttering in Boris style  " I'LL BE BACK"

re :-

"Swindon winning at Northampton (who might win the title)"

Northampton are now only 7 points off top spot   and the "might" has suddenly turned into "has a very good chance"

with Stevenage "Grinders" v Orient to come this month
