Don’t forget Alfie May. Slated by most on here(constantly) but 46 goals since leaving us and now playing a division above. We’d kill for him now. Not that it would matter much when we can’t defend to save our lives.

I thought at the time it was a big mistake letting Alfie go. It was very obvious to those who have a basic knowledge of the game that his confidence was building at every game (when given the chance).
We have to thank Moore for Alfie’s departure, Moore must have a good man behind him at Hillsborough.

I think we’ve signed a few good permanent signings recently, hurst, biggins, Maxwell, knoyle, Mitchell, close
None of them would get in the league 1 side under G McCann so our acceptance of the level of player is dropping

Agree with Dickos this summer we have added better players and they are a similar profile really. Tomlinson was the outlier really.

Can’t compare this summers signings to McCanns team. That was a very good L1 team we are now a L2 team. We can’t possibly sign players now that would get in that team.

Yes a sign of how far we’ve fallen but we should acknowledge we’ve made a bit of progress from rock bottom.

we have also lost Tomlin Clayton and knoyle so are we in a stronger position now?

That acknowledgment can only come when consistent results shows we have bottomed out and starting to recover. 15th in league 2 may be rock bottom let’s see how the new players perform and we can put results together. We will not make the top three as the Chairman believed we would can we now get in the playoffs, I have my doubts but will accept if I am wrong.

none of them would get our side that got promoted from the conference. He’s a wind up merchant I swear.

I was more talking about players signed. Who are undoubtedly an improvement on last Jan and probably the summer before with Wellens even though we’re a league lower. Yes it’s a low bar.

Imo we are stronger than we’ve been most of the season, playing squad wise. Every player who has gone didn’t contribute other than Knoyle who we’ve replaced. We brought in new players who are available for selection. We can’t say for sure we’re stronger till a few games have gone by

How many of our permanent players have gone on to play at a higher level after leaving us in recent years?

I can only think of Whiteman

Rowe, Reece James & Sadlier

Didn’t James and Sadlier go to teams at same level of us when they left though?

James to Blackpool in the Championship and Sadlier to Rotherham.

James said (whether he meant it or not) had he have not been signed by Blackpool, he would have signed again with us.

Another rather dull deadline day for us. Shame as I still feel we need at least an attacker.
