That was Sunday league and an apology to Sunday league required after that statement.

Very very poor, DSis not learning at all   1 up top again, poor Miller I feel sorry for him.

Something has to be done!

No midfield  just running around like headless chickens......
But can do better, catch them on the break?

I can’t believe that I think we we’re actually better under McSheffrey which is a statement in itself

Very good second half 2 goals which seemed to give the players a lot of confidence and a well deserved clean sheet. Anderson won absolutely everything, Mitchell commanded his area well and took pressure off the defence and was great to see Olowu back. Only 2 points off the play offs again so still in with a chance.

Well done to the whole side, they found a way to win, it was needed badly. Hopefully confidence is improved a bit.

First game with my son.  Win and a clean sheet. My thoughts.
Mitchell, good saves but very slow on distribution. A couple of times could have released early when players free. Kicking is atrocious.
Defence. Anderson won mostly everything. Rowe was colossal until had to go off. Never shirked any challenge. Williams, yep I get what people have said, atrocious first half, poor touches, passing, the lot really. Slightly improved second half. Brown and Maxwell did ok, Maxwell I thought, needed to support Hurst quicker
Close, slows everything down, poor passing again. Yes he scored but… Laikin I thought was solid. Molynue ( prob spelt wrong) did ok for me. Wanted to find space and run. Let down by others not reacting fast enough. Hurst, excellent. Wanted to run, take on players, shoot(even though not close to goal). Rewarded with his goal.
Miller, I know people are saying he is up front on his own, to me he didn’t show any interest. Not wanting to make runs or try.
Painful first half. Second half better but only in stages.
The fans singing sack the board, I understand their frustration but they need to realise what the board have done for this club. We are never going to be spending big. Only saw one Harry Potter supporters scarf

Very mixed reactions to last nights game on this forum.

It has to be said we will lose more than we win playing as we did last night.
1st half was very poor again.  We started the 2nd half on the back foot and got a little lucky with the 1st goal.

Only 6 shots & 2 on target ( both goals )  Tranmere 15 shots and 6 I think it was on target. 0 corners for us 9 for Tranmere.
We only had 39% possession.
Think the stats say a lot about the game.

It’s a win I know but we need to improve a lot on that if we are going to put a winning run together.

Confidence was key, we looked completely devoid first 60mins, set up wrong again - inviting pressure on to defenders lacking confidence and quality is a really bad idea - we need to be much more positive and progressive. After the goal we had a bit of belief and could see the heads go up - and pressing higher up the pitch got us the second goal - please take note Danny!

Hurst looked good again, Lakin bright too, and Olowu was a beast when he came on. Big shout out to Mitchell for big saves when needed as well.

It's a platform for Saturday, for me we need to keep the positivity by being progressive. RSW and Close need a rest for me, Lavery should be starting with Miller so we can play some football in the opposition half!!

We looked better as a counter attacking side rather than one that “dominates possession” by passing it around the back.

Paul, stats mean nothing in football, teams have won the European cup loads of times spoiling and not having the ball, only stat that matters was we got the ball in their onion bag twice and they failed to do the same, that's why we got three points and them none.

Where was the players shouting man on etc. talking to each other. We do need to improve a lot especially 5-10 yard passes.

Yes of course that is the most important statistic and the only one that actually is important at the final whistle.
The point is though if we play as we did last night and have similar stats to last night ( bar the goals ) then we will lose more than we win. We got lucky. Tranmere did not take advantage of those stats.

Possession stats I am not bothered about. Means very little. It is what you do with your possession that counts.
Shots do matter. Shots on target matter. If you don’t shoot you don’t score.  Corners would suggest how much possession you had near the oppositions by line. So could be significant but also can be an mis leading statistic. Last night I think it did have some significance, as many of our crosses into the box came from deep and not getting to the by line behind their defence.

Agree with all that. RSW has to be left out. Close I would keep in the team. He is blowing a bit hot and cold at present. When he is hot he can be a big asset. Assists and goals.  Got 2 goals since 1st Jan now.

I would agree we were devoid of any positives 1st half and maybe first 5 mins of the 2nd half. However I thought from 50mins until the 1st goal we were getting on top and starting to look as though we would create chances. The bit of luck for the 1st seemed to give everyone confidence and I thought for the next 15 mins we caused them alot of problems and from around 75mins to the end of the game managed the game very well without looking too threatening. A step in the right direction? Here's hoping but we must improve for more than 15 to 20 mins in a game to get more consistent positive results.

It feels like scoring first is key - confidence for the players, and get the fans bouncing. The difference between the Mansfield and Grimsby away games as case in point - Grimsby one up in about ten mins and absolutely bouncing on the pitch and in the stands, Mansfield one nil down in 30secs and flat as a fart on the pitch and in the stands. Get at the oppo early, get ahead and get the fans jumping and the players with their tails up on the pitch.

I thought close was excellent yesterday tbh, wanted to get us on the front foot all the time, even in the first half when we weren’t playing well. His goal also helped all the players grow in confidence. Between him and Anderson for MOTM imo.

Joseph wasn't shy in letting Brown know when he was coming for a ball

If Olowu plays most of the games from now to the end of the season  we'll win more than we lose, having a player who gets to the ball more often than his opponent is a game changer, especially in a team that is quite easily bullied.
