Academy 13/14 players

4 Academy players have gone to premier league clubs. 3 to ManUtd and 1to Leeds last April and September and October.
Six figure compensation paid by ManUtd for the three and six figure for the winger to Leeds all signed scholarships till they are 18.

As said on the other thread, let's not try to make out we are cashing in. This is affecting all other clubs from the UK and overseas.

It's sickening. How are we supposed to compete?

Not sure what the answer is. Part of me thinks they should limit squad sizes so the big clubs can’t hoover up so many but equally the players will get a really good education even if they never play for the big club.

Chances of them making it very slim, all I'd say is potentially enjoy being at a big club  whilst it lasts

It's a good thing we are picking them up at a young age, you can't stop any kid going to these clubs and they hoover up so many youngsters these days

I had no idea we even had a team playing competitive matches at that age. Why isn't it publicised by the club so that we can go and support them? And surely the income we have received for these players should be used to fund the academy etc and develop more talented players - that we can keep for ourselves!

i think there are FA rules against promoted results of schoolboy teams

It is a shame that the lifeblood of a lower league team is snatched away by the big boys. But then again, rovers, like all clubs at this level are selling clubs at the end of the day.
Money talks. Sadly.
I just hope they have substantial clauses attached .

  The u18s had a good win in an entertaining game v Lincoln today, coming back to win 3-2 after going behind 2-0 early in the game.

The youth team are playing Saturday and Tuesday at the moment with only 14 players so there's no chance he'll feature for the first team anytime soon.
