Can we realistically improve?
« on March 11, 2023, 11:36:23 am by Don Revor »
5 draws - the lowest in the league. We either win or lose, most of the time. How many of those losses were by fine margins or individual mistakes. The football may not be attractive all of the time, but we're not miles behind the better teams. Surely we can't get any worse. Do the players and management staff have what it takes to make improvements (however small) to improve our position this season?

yes i think we can Saturday was an improvement with Molyneux up alongside miller his upper body strength is better than Millers, what puzzles me is bring in a winger from Brighton and don't give him a chance also a young lad in the under 18's got 20 goals not even on the bench

I think the variability in results is a result of the poorness of this league - we've been pretty terrible most of the season but so it seems have lots of other teams. Last season it would have taken the tiniest improvement to keep us up, marginal gains that our previous manager couldn't manage.

My worry with Schofield is that our improvement isn't a straight line - we look better one game and we all think we've cracked it and it's onwards and upwards, and then next game we look like we've never met each other before. There's definitely shoots of improvement here and there, he needs to keep up the attacking formation, but I'm thinking we'll run out of time now this year - we could just do with building a bit of momentum ready for next season.

If we're not miles behind the better teams then how do you conclude we surely can't get any worse?

I think we’ve stumbled across a workable system when Lakin got injured we improved having Hurst as the ball carrier with Close and Biggins added to Miller & Molyneaux upfront.

Our current League position reflects our abilities to compete at this level . It can’t be over looked the comparison what Wellens has achieved at Orient and ourselves and probably on similar budgets . No progress can truly be seen in the results since he was sacked , with  the likely prospect of L2 football next season as well , a more open attitude on player recruitment  urgently needs laying out if the season tickets sales are not going to stagnate , requiring even more support from the owners !

You just need to look at the players Orient have got to know they won't come cheap. I would imagine his budget there is vastly superior to our budget.

I think they are just a better run club all round and Wellens has bought into its popularity locally .Ever since their favourite manager Justin Edinburgh died,  the club has made supporting  its manager a priority!

There were also rumours of team selection being hindered by Orient hierarchy last season. Wellens dropped on his feet inheriting what he did rather than the shitshow he inherited from Moore. Nice to see you admit it’s not the budget that’s the problem

I don’t think it will be much different to ours.  Just my opinion as I have no definite knowledge.
