Yes hound.
It is offensive to Gary Lineker but primarily it is offensive to people who are neurodivergent.
Can you not see that?

I can see why BST jumped on it.
I have a son with schizophrenia, and at times his and our lives have been a living hell over the last 15 years. You've no idea, so when people make jokes about it it tends to make your blood boil.

Oh my God.
I didn't reach that conclusion ffs
I knew you'd read it obviously!
You said something like people shouldn't read topics that they didn't like, referring to BST in this case.
I said how do you (meaning anyone) know what's what without reading the opening post.
No mention of you not reading it.
How you came to that conclusion is beyond me
That's it, once again I'm done with you.
Christ Almighty.

Tommy, there are hundreds of posts on this forum every week and I dare say that some of them will be offensive to some readers.
Does everyone stop posting just in case they offend someone.
Had bst not kicked off would you have had such a reaction to the post by CLH.

Tommy. If you read my original post without this unhealthy bias you have, you would see exactly what I meant. Which is probably why you are writing things like ‘you wrote something like…’ in stead of quoting me directly.
Please, for both our sakes, if you cannot read my posts and respond sensibly and without malice, then please, PLEASE stick to your decision to not engage with me anymore (this time).
I can really do without it.

Edit: what’s laughable is that I write ‘you’ and you accuse me of trying to engage Billy, yet you write ‘you’ and I’m supposed to know you really mean everyone.
Can’t you see the issue here?

I do know exactly what your original post means, other people have posted the same thing many times.
I wondered why (though guesed) why
you felt it appropriate to post it here, at the time you did.
If I am wrong then I apologise.
As for your request, gladly.

You have my sympathy TT. I've got some idea what you've been going through.

In my son's case we are only just coming to terms with it. His biggest fear is having people take the piss out of him for his condition. He's a handsome, intelligent, thoughtful, athletic boy on the brink of manhood, and his confidence could be destroyed by some t**t with a neanderthal sense of humour. I think we have a responsibility to be better than that.

Then why this:

‘No.
What's pathetic is your pathetic attempts to try and try again to get BST to engage with you.’

And finally, in the style of a mutual favourite of ours:

I suspose that’s the last I’ll hear from you, I really do!

One of my sons has neurodivergency.## May I suggest you don't use this topic for one of your crass, ignorant attempts at humour please?

That's the thing about humour, you can choose whether you find it funny or not and if it's not for you, move on.
Just because you found it offensive, doesn't make it offensive.

Cheers pal. I'll tell my son that.
Can't think why I never thought of it before.

Because I've noticed (rightly or wrongly, maybe it's my prejudice) that you keep popping up on various threads just after BST has posted. And you did it again on this one.
As for the last bit. I don't get it.

Billy had posted several times before I did. And let’s be honest, It’s very difficult to be a regular (ish) poster on here without following a post by Billy from time to time. He has monopolised the forum somewhat.

My mistake - I thought you were a Count Arthur Strong fan.

Hi hound
The posts on here that may become offensive, are nearly always between  consenting adults, who can stand up for themselves and are usually about  politics! Ha!
To mock people with mental health problems is another thing altogether.

I'm just a bit concerned about the future of the forum now that we can say what we like and use foul and abusive language towards each other with no consequence.

I doubt very much that CLH knew anything about BSTs sons condition so I find it hard to believe that he was mocking him.
And yes, I know about the offensive posts on here that are intentional, I have had much abuse directed my way, but there will also have been subjects which have been discussed which may also have caused upset or offence to people without the posters knowing about it.

Thanks BST.

My lads illness has unfortunately defined us since he became unwell.
It affects every aspect of our lives, even when he's relatively well, (which he is now that he's back on his meds) and, as he lives with us, stops us doing everyday things 'normal' families take for granted.
Try not to let that happen to you.

I sincerely hope your son and you and your family are able to manage his condition so that he'll have a full life and achieve all he wants to.
You can't control what some d**kheads might say to him, (believe me I've seen it with my lad, I could f***ing thump em)
Just remind him he's special.
Good luck!

I obviously knew CLH was not mocking BST's son.
He was having a laugh generally at people with mental health issues.

My heart goes out to you TT. It's a hell that you can't imagine until you're in it. I know exactly what you mean about the effect on normal family life.

Good luck to you and your family and I deeply hope your son has the chance to get his life on the rails. We are very lucky that the council and school here have support systems in place which are giving us some hope at the moment. But it's a slog every day as I'm sure you know better than me.

errr no he wasn't mi Lord   it was OBVIOUSLY about the  descrptive word (not the actual people themselves) I had never heard of - my friend .

I actually asked BB on here if he had ever heard of that "N" word. Response awaaited.

When by chance I discovered the  usage of the term Neurodivergent in my mind I included Einstein etc under that umberella. It was only later when I re-read the definition that I discovered Persons such as Einstein were EXCLUDED from the definition .

Just because Einstein was a genius in science - he would be useless in other fields with presumably many faults.

I believe such persons as Einstein should be included in a NEW more general definition (both positive and negative  neurodivergent - whatever that means) perhaps the term "Creative Neurodivergent" could be applied to Einstein etc ?

If you bother to get past BST's "Barnsley style BUT GENUINE IN THIS CASE LOW BLOCK on the thread  you will see I focus on the second part of the word neurodivergent

BST on countless occasions uses the Barnsley style "low block" technique on a thread  ..." i have a friend etc"
-------------

Note I mention I know financiallydivergent people  -   I am taking the pi$$ out of the word divergent NOT PEOPLE WITH NO MONEY.

so please get past the  initial "low block" and read the content and don't hijack the thread

Continuing my taking the pi$$ out of current BBc usage of words i plead the following paragraph

"There is commitment to the main series talent, Fiona Bruce. The series also features a large number of
returning experts. We are open to suggestions that can utilise and enhance the current pool, ensuring that the
team continues to evolve in way that reflects the breadth and diversity of the BBC audience"

men often refer to women as "Talent"

The big issue in" BBC Language" is should we refer to Gary Lineker as the "main series Talent"  or would you find this offensive ?

I am sure you remember Lineker being "offensive" to Gazza

Here endeth the sermon (for now0

Nothing you post has an obvious intent or meaning!

If you truly want something to be obvious to people might I suggest plain English and ditching the unnecessary quotation marks once in a while?

BST is the head of this forum and if he says we should be able to say what we like without consequences that'll do for me. He's already led by example.

In that regard, that's why I'm not holding my breath for an apology from him.
